The only grace I can give them is the fact that they lost a key piece on the offensive line (Frank Ragnow) including 2023 Jonah Jackson so trying to create a scheme for a new offensive coach is probably a struggle but jesus christ they were pounding the ball and it did fuck all for them.
As excited as I am for the demolishment, I'm not putting all my stock in that game. The Lions need a couple of games to gel with the player/OC turnover. Plus, every team goes through that to some extent now since practices are so limited during the offseason and the way preseason games are structured now. However, it can definitely go in the other direction too. Didn't the Saints start 2-0 last year and demolish the Cowboys, only to go on and become an ongoing clownshow?
Also seems like OC doesn't want Goff flinging it down the field
TBF, it seemed like pressure was there every time Goff dropped back.

Chris Collinsworth brought up something that piases me off: Just this year, Lamar can change the play at the line of scrimmage. How the hell do all of these young (relatively) QBs not know how to do that? Is it just the OCs hogging the play calls so the QB doesn't have to worry, or are they just less trained on reading defenses/calling protections?

Game note: that was a sick sack on Lamar.

Big win for the Packers. Defense looks fucking great. Offense got off to a hot start and did enough in the fourth to close it out. Packers had to come out and get a big win against a division opponent after going 1-5 last year.
And right as I'm tying this Parsons gets his first sack! Yes!

Parson's had a lot of pressure placed on Goff and a ton of double teams taken up. I can't wait to see him at game fitness and more fitted into the team

I wouldn't trust Lamar with changing a play call. Have you heard him talk?

It's legitimately insane. Watch some of the clips of Gruden losing his mind when talking to QBs entering the draft, or Tom Brady's recent comments on the position. Football teams are always looking for ways to streamline things, make players more efficient by reducing their decisions making, minimizing variables on the field, etc. They've dumbed down the position SO much to maximize QBs skillsets, and they've either lost or are close to losing, the things that set guys like Brady, Manning, Rodgers apart.

What I'm interested to see is if it's the type of shit that's gone forever, or if a super smart QB that sees everything pre-snap and has genius-tier decision making, is able to come up, blow everyone away, and redefines the position back to that style of QB.

Either way, yeah. College QBs basically slap their hands to hike the ball, run whatever RPO was called, rinse, and repeat ATM.

The problem with trying to get a decision making QB who has the arm strength and talent is that there aren't that many people on the planet to find 32 of them

Quarterbacks use to be students of the game. They could recite the playbook in their sleep, and read defenses better than anyone of the coaches.

Now QBs just listen to coordinator on their helmet radio, and scramble or run if the play breaks down.

I thought this Bills Baltimore game was going to be closer. The Ravens are running all over them.

I didn't. As much as I wanted the Ravens to lose, this was the outcome I expected. The Bills have been perpetually overrated since Tom left and gave them a shit division. You throw the Bills in the AFC North or AFC West, and nobody would treat them like they are preseason Super Bowl favorites every year.

I am making my mark in the sand.

Goff's time in detroit is coming to a close. There's gonna be a lot of things we may need to change to get things back to a good level. One of those things will most likely be the Lions waving the white flag on the Goff train. Unfortunately for those folks, they're gonna have a rude awakening. Lions will win some games this year, and heck they may win one or two in the playoffs. But Super Bowls??? nah not this year unless we are gonna make changes.

Bill Clinton left office.
Alright, time to create a fun conspiracy theory because I am bored and its fun to rip on Cowboys fans. Bill Clinton used the CIA to give the Cowboys their 3rd Super Bowl win and when people started to get close to the scandal, Bill decided to get a blowjob from Monica Lewinski to hide the scandal and protect his friend Jerry

The Lions couldn't decide what to do this year. They didn't want to go all out but they also didn't want to rebuild. No idea what they are doing but they still have time and cap space to make a move

Stagnation? Can't make a decision to either rebuild or all in?????? Who does this remind me of...?? OH

Lamar played in a pro-style offense at Louisville, and Bal'mer turned him in to a run first RPO QB his first three years.
