Daniel Jones is quickly going to find his way to being a backup by next year as I don't see his play dramatically improving. Though I'm sure Eagles, Cowboys and Redskins fans are in favor of Danny Derps getting $45M+ and staying as the Giants QB

Cowboys should look inward at Dak Prescott who if you call him white Kirk Cousins you insult Kirk Cousins

Still hilarious that Micah Parsons actually called him the black Kirk Cousins after their playoff exit.

DJ will get his Carr-level salary in the end and still be overpaid.

QB contracts are rapidly increasing faster than the cap and something will break at some point.
That's if they want DJ over Saquon which isn't 100% certain

In between being an idiot, Rich Eisen suggested that QB contracts should be percentage based for the salary cap instead of getting numbers out there. Might be an interesting idea

It's not the most appealing decision to have to make. Do you overpay the average-at-best QB who's good at being available to play, or do you overpay the top 5 RB whose right leg is made of glass? Probably can't overpay both.
I'd go for overpaying Jones just because of Saquon's spotty injury history and the fact that it's easier to slot JAG-tier running backs behind a good offensive line and still kill in the rushing game, while the same is not true for QB.

So long as DJ isn't on guaranteed money, you can always move on. Would be dumb to overpay him and make it guaranteed money

Saints gave him a very Saints contract

$28.5m signing prorated over 5 years (so $5.7m cap hit a year.)

Year 1 $1.5m guaranteed salary.
Year 2 $35m guaranteed salary.
Year 3 guaranteed salary ends. $30m salary with $10m roster bonus.
Year 4 $50m salary.
Year 5 is a void year.

They can cut him after year two with just the $5.7m hit per year as dead cap after that. It's pretty low risk for them. If he balls out they'll restructure and keep him. If he sucks they'll just move on.

That's what Carr gets for saving the Saints from trading to the Raiders. Keep some help and get some guaranteed money

Daniel Jones and the Giants are finalizing an extension that will pay him $160 million over four years, with the possibility of an extra $35 million through incentives. They've also used the franchise tag on Saquon Barkley.

Yesterday the Seahawks and Geno Smith agreed to a $105 million deal for three seasons.

They must not think they can get the QBs in this year's and next year's draft. Going to be hard to lock down decent QB talent and the price will just keep going up. Just not a lot of decent QBs let alone good ones
