I've already done that and it still does that auto-download crap.
Does the issue still persist? Do you have a sample in which we can check? I've used this browser for years and have never had this issue.
also that calendar selection thing at web.archive.org is still incompatible with Firefox.
Is this an ESR-exclusive issue? I have never encountered this issue at Internet Archive.
To clarify, this is what you mean by "calendar selection thing", right? Or is it something else?

Yep and any file does it.
I think I actually misunderstood your problem. I kinda missed this post/reply:
You mean temporary file writes? As far as I am aware those are just standard browser defaults now and (also as far as I'm aware) can't be disabled, most if not all chromium browsers do that too. Wasn't even aware they could be disabled at some point.
So nevermind. You wanted to stop this behavior, and I'm not aware of how, either.

Phoronix: Mozilla Names New CEO, Firefox To Evolve Into A "Modern AI Browser"

Anthony Enzor-DeMeo said:
People want software that is fast, modern, but also honest about what it does. They want to understand what’s happening and to have real choices.

Mozilla and Firefox can be that choice.

Few companies share our strengths. People trust our brand. Firefox brings us global reach. Our teams know how to build reliable, independent software at scale, and our business model puts the user first.

As Mozilla moves forward, we will focus on becoming the trusted software company. This is not a slogan. It is a direction that guides how we build and how we grow. It means three things.

First: Every product we build must give people agency in how it works. Privacy, data use, and AI must be clear and understandable. Controls must be simple. AI should always be a choice — something people can easily turn off. People should know why a feature works the way it does and what value they get from it.

Second: our business model must align with trust. We will grow through transparent monetization that people recognize and value.

Third: Firefox will grow from a browser into a broader ecosystem of trusted software. Firefox will remain our anchor. It will evolve into a modern AI browser and support a portfolio of new and trusted software additions.

>how to use the ai features:
Good morning Firefox sir, time for the much needful daily goon sesh! Kindfully find beautiful white aryan queen with open bob and vagene, and this time no yiffy business you bloody bastard!

Speaking of which, YouTube has once again changed something about its ad blocker detection routine, and now videos in Firefox work again without issues for me (with ABP and UBO disabled, ads are still being blocked via other means) while they don't work in Chrome anymore, unless I set UBOL to Basic filtering.
Now it works in both browsers with ABP and UBO active. Fuck those dumb jeets.

The quote to read into is this from the verge article. This means when AI fails they will start locking down ad blocking in hopes of short term profit before all the user leave.
He says he could begin to block ad blockers in Firefox and estimates that’d bring in another $150 million, but he doesn’t want to do that. It feels off-mission.

It seems everything that was once good about the internet continues to get destroyed by the inevitable process of enshittification and the desire to churn out more AI slop.

I cannot say that I am surprised because of how Mozilla has been sucking Google's cock for revenue these past few years. Perhaps Mozilla has taken so many loads from Google they have started to think like Google now.
