If that's the case how do you feel about Sakura from Le Serrafim? She's an actual former AKB and HKT48 member that went kpop.

They fucked up her face because she looked too cute and too Japanese and they needed her to look like one of the interchangeable girlbosses in the industry. Pisses me off. They did the same thing to a male idol and fucked his chin up.

XG changed their name from Xtraordinary Girls to Xtraordinary Genes because Cocona's mental illness must be centered at all times or else she'll literally die.

i-dle released a new song featuring a they/them zoomer (male) that includes groundbreaking lyrics such as:

(La-la-la-la-la-la-da) So, how do you identify?
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la) I identify as she/her
(La-la-la-la-la-la-da) I identify as he/him
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)
(La-la-la-la-la-la-da) I don't personally know any theys but, I mean
(La-la-la-la-la-la) I think it's important to just be yourself
(La-la-la-la-la-la-la) For sure
When you love yourself, you can love everyone

The reception has been generally positive but they're getting dragged by some western stans for not pandering hard enough to the LGBTQIAP+ community. You're not a true ally until you suck the girlcock live on Music Bank.

Heeseung left Enhypen! I don't really follow them closely but it does seem strange and unusual to say it was about him going solo when plenty of large groups have members do solo stuff. Anyone know what this was really about?

It's all speculation at this point, but the timing seems very odd.
They're in the middle of promoting their latest album, just released new merchandise, launched an ad campaign with Listerine and are scheduled to perform for the first time in Australia at the 안녕, Melbourne festival on March 14th.

The fans have gone in a complete meltdown, spamming be lift's accounts with demands to bring him back and the hashtag enhyPENIS7, sending protest trucks to the headquarters and signing a petition that has reached over 500 000 signatures.

The very abrupt announcement doesn't make sense, they could have waited until the festival is over. A couple of days wouldn't have made any difference in his solo pursuits and would have spared a huge disappointment for the Aussie fans.
So something unexpected must have gone down behind the scenes.

Kpop is an extremely controlled environment for most artists, squeezing them dry to make as much profit as possible, so it might be an accumulation of factors like exhaustion, dissatisfaction with the group's direction and internal struggles. Some conspiracy theories include creating this sensation to divert attention from the scandals Hybe's chairman is involved in, a sudden fall out between the artists in Enhypen or a personal event that forced them to expedite the decision.
Most likely, we will never find out.

Heeseung is the best vocalist in the group, so it will be a challenge for the remaining members to adjust.

so my YouTube algorithm has finally gotten to know me. Is this the K-pop thing the children have been talking about?
Since when did Koreans get so horny? And i thought it was haram to be gay in Korea?

Question: I had to watch that demon hunters film with some friends and as I've never listened or cared about K-Pop it was my first exposure outside of like Gangam Style. So is K-Pop all like 10 to 15% niggerfied with rapping in it at points? Cause I feel like most of the song in that movie were similar.

So I keep getting these recommended to me now and they are all so over the top and overproduced. They damn catchy though and I have a soft spot for ESL English so i can fuck with it. Apparently a ton of k-pop stars have offed themselves because they’re not allowed to have any kind of private life and these guys even have to live together.

On another note, if one of these niggas robbed me and I had to pick them out in a line up they’d 100% walk free.

Certified bangers. I think Red Velvet should have at least one on that list. All have beautiful music videos too. Speaking of which, the most recent BTS music video is pretty intense:

BTS - Hooligan

I have continued my deepdive into the K-pop rabbit hole and can now proudly state that I can tell the members of Ateez apart.

The amount of work they put into their performances is insane and they actually have a lot of bangers. Idk if it’s common amongst other groups but these guys’ producers can’t stick to one genre. There are sometimes 3-4 different genres in THE SAME SONG which shouldn’t work but it kinda does?
Ateez - Good Lil Boy
Features:
-dubstep
-hiphop
-acoustic guitar edm build up
-chorus: Japanese anime music???

Ateez - Halalazia
Features:
-hiphop
-edm
-moombathon(???)
-drum and bass
-brostep (holy 2010 Batman)

Other tid bits I learned about K-pop (Ateez in particular, but probably true for majority of the industry):
- Very creepy constant reiteration of their gratitude and love for their fanbase

- There are line distribution videos where autistic teenage girls calculate exactly how much vocal time each member gets in a song

- This band in particular has a reality show that shows them in incredibly emotionally vulnerable positions, (making them call their parents and tell them what they’re grateful for during filming, filming them undergoing hypnosis in which two of the members had nervous breakdowns, etc)

- Obsession with public appearance and weight loss. One of the members had a panic attack for not having make up on during a rehearsal. Another one has dropped an insane amount of weight for this latest comeback.

- Their agency is litigating rumors and hate comments being spread online. Apparently korean teenage girls are experts in driving idols to kill themselves so I guess it’s not a completely invalid way for them to protect their talent.

- There’s a whole community of Jinx style reaction channels just for watching K-pop music videos

This one is my favourite though, a really nice house pop ballad. I was able to hear that this was in Japanese only by listening which is a sign that I’m in to deep. Time to head into the next rabbit hole 🫡

Of course, I love Dumb Dumb.

Also I Just is my favorite B-side of theirs.

I've listened to like..every youtube mix of red velvet and yet this song is completely new to me.

The amount of work they put into their performances is insane and they actually have a lot of bangers. Idk if it’s common amongst other groups but these guys’ producers can’t stick to one genre. There are sometimes 3-4 different genres in THE SAME SONG which shouldn’t work but it kinda does?

This is one of the things that is so impressive to me about kpop. If you just ignore the ability to put out 4-8 absolute ear worms per album, you have these multi faceted groups that can take the same some and make it sound different just by virtue of timing and tone. Then add in some dancing and anyone that thinks it's not impressive is blind or just a fucking hater.

I saw TWICE a couple months ago. I’ve been a closeted fan since stumbling across the TT music video in early 2018. I’d say I was more of a passive fan of TWICE and K-Pop leading up to the show but I’m much more of an active fan now. I started to listen through to their discography but I only got a couple albums in. They have so much material it’s insane.

Other groups I’ve been listening to a lot of recently: Hearts2Hearts, IVE, KiiKii, Itzy, ILLIT, New Jeans, aespa, and LE SSERAFIM. Like a bad drug I’ve been off and on again with Blackpink. Jisoo is my favorite of the 4. I have a baseless conspiracy theory that Jennie and Lisa are very high end escorts. Their music unfortunately is sometimes good to my ears. I’m also unfortunately a fan of KATSEYE.
