I think the author was stuck between A) showing the person retarded enough to get infected as anything more than a dalit and B) having the caretakers be higher caste.

You know that trope of saying if you travelled back to the Jurassic era you'd just end of killing all the dinosaurs with modern diseases that they have no immune defenses for? The idea is that so many new and more sophisticated diseases have emerged over hundreds of thousands of years.

I have a feeling it would be the same deal with Indians but it could just be for travelling back to like 1890.

2-Month-Old Puppy Sexually Assaulted, Thrashed By Man In Mumbai: Police​

A 20-year-old man was booked in Malad in north Mumbai for allegedly sexually assaulting a two-month-old puppy and thrashing it, a police official said on Thursday.

"Vikas Besakar Paswan took the puppy inside the toilet and sexually assaulted it. He also beat up the animal. A passerby alerted an animal lover, Geeta Patel, who called the police. A team reached the spot and got hold of Paswan. The puppy was rescued in a critical condition and is in the care of a veterinarian," the official said.

A video of the commotion outside the public toilet after people pinned down Paswan went viral on social media.

He has been booked under section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming animals) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act but is yet to be arrested, the official said.

Cholera and bubonic plague originated in India btw.
 
Recently had to do some stuff over the phone with AT&T business support and was at first very pleasantly surprised to find that my call was being fielded and transferred between people at a call center apparently staffed by white South Africans. I spent the most time on the line with this woman who eventually got around to joking with me about how she spent all her years in school completely failing to master Afrikaans.

At this point, I was feeling pretty good, that Indian fatigue was hammering AT&T hard enough that maybe they are seriously starting to offshore their call centers to other Third World Anglophone shit holes.

But the next-to-last transfer had me talking to an Indian South African woman, which put me back on guard. She had a English first name, but a Tamil last name, and was probably one of those Indians whose ancestors had settled in South Africa during the 19th century, as the accent was quite close to the South African standard, but I could still detect the jeet traces, even before she mentioned her ethnic last name.

But they saved the worst for last, ultimately transferring me over to the AT&T sweatshop technical sapport center in good old Utter Poodesh. Now for the past week, I've been receiving emails with dozens of AT&T jeets cc'ed and intermittently responding like headless chickens, asking one another for confirmation that an order has been processed, even though the guy asking is the one who has the proof of processing.

We should call it the H1B virus. I mean they are a plague, but now they are contagious.
 
Wasn't the soyntific name for one of the boogeyman animal-flus of the late 00s literally something like H1B1? H1N1?
