You would not be able to get into university in the US without being able to do this. A lot of adults or even college sophomores jettison this knowledge pretty promptly because it doesn't end up being useful to them, so I could understand that part, but being unable to perform pre-algebra would tank your math ACT/SAT and kill your chance of getting into college.

This is why I'm ultimately optimistic about the Indian question. The country is a bizarre patchwork of various mutually-antagonistic Maoist movements, frozen ethnic conflicts, corruption, and national leaders who struggle to not start race wars. There's already a lot of tension due to the global economic headwinds putting pressure on the Indian economy. India is a massive importer and the rupee recently hit record lows against the US dollar, which is the primary currency needed to import food and commodities. There's widespread discontent among the youth, religious minorities (particularly Muslims and Christians who the Hindus hate because their population is growing far faster than the Hindus), and even the Indian RW because Modi isn't cracking down on those bloody Muslim benchod basterds hard enough.
The math there isn't hard and i was doing proof-based geometry in 7th grade. Yeah a lot of Americans suck at math but so do most people. The only difference between the west and Asian countries is we don't force retards do to math they won't ever use. If someone is bad at math then no amount of tutoring and missions out on fun will ever make them at the same level as people who enjoy it.
The post-SMO western sanctions aganist Russia have been a godsend for Modi, as it forced Putin to sell oil and gas to India for pennies on the dollar. Once he wraps up the war in Ukraine and the ties with the west improve once again, Russia will start selling oil and gas to Europe again (because euros never learn), when that happens Modi will be absolutely and positively fucked. Think of Sri Lanka, and imagine something 10 times worse and 100 times as big, and that'll be India's best-case scenario for the early 2030s.
And even if the Ukrainian shit doesn't wrap up soon, Russia isn't going to keep selling oil to India for cheap because long-term it's not sustainable. Oil for pennies is a net loss. Russia is willing to eat some losses for cash flow now (they already invested the money so they want to get something back even if it's a loss on paper) but how long will they put up with that? If Putin can't somehow get oil sales back on with the west, he's more likely to just slash oil production rather than pumping more money in so he can subsidize jeet consumption.
