Reminds me, saw a photo week or so ago now of someone holding up a river dolphin from this very river, saying that they are on the increase or something, and the poor thing did not look very well. It had foamy stuff leaking from it's mouth, and just looked so depressed. The comments were all talking about how sad it looked, and how disgusting the river is, and poor thing for having to live and swim through dead bodies and poop. Of course, there was also the usual crusade of 'it's an animal, it doesn't care' or 'they're still alive unlike the ones in China, take that idiots'.

What I've noticed browsing this thread is that the 'Indian Mindset' values the quick fix lowest effort for highest return. I encountered this myself many pages ago with Indian 3D animation rigs that seemed usable, but devolved into a world of errors that'd require me to re-do the pajeets work if we were going to be able to produce a quality animation. (Swapped to a set of self-reportedly "broken" European rigs, and they've been worlds better)

Gambling is the ultimate quick fix, especially the lottery, you put in a relatively small amount of money and poof! You're a millionaire. However anyone with the kind of planning skills you pick up in elementary school or before, will realize that it only works that way for one person.

This is not really exclusive to India. Guinness will accept literally any record as long as you pay them a sufficient amount, which includes traveling and "judge" fees. There are a couple of reasons.

1: Unemployment. Many of them are on government gibs, in some cases their parents were also on gibs, so they have a lot of free time. Betting shops and small stores are often little community centers.

2: They own them. Many of them also often function for whitewashing black money. White owners can’t compete with not paying taxes and free labor in the form of family members.

3: They often like betting on soccer games for their government gibs.
