I think I remember getting him on the Backlot Stuntcoaster and the Racer. I tried to get him onto Flight Deck (now called the Bat) when he pulled that fainting stunt and freaked me out. He told me he wanted to let me know exactly how being on those coasters made him feel but there's a difference between scared while on a roller coaster and scared for someone's health.
He pulled the fainting trick on Flight Deck? BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That is one of the least scariest rides in the park, certainly in comparison to Backlot and Racer! I think the only roller coaster in the park that is even less scary than that would be Adventure Express, which only recently got bumped up from a 4 thrill rating to a 5.

Pity you didn't get him to ride one of the BIG ticket rides that are legit scary at times like Flight of Fear, Firehawk, or The Beast. Flight Deck/Bat is a kiddie ride in comparison to those white-knuckle rides, as those would probably have made him think he was being abducted by aliens, literally being turned over on the track to fall to his death, or being subjected to the ride actually roaring in his face in the tunnels.

Especially since he told me he wants to pilot a fighter jet which I'm sure is far more dangerous than the most intense roller coasters.
>Wants to pilot a fighter jet which can kill you from the G-forces if you pull too hard in one direction against gravity
>Decides to fake passing out so he doesn't have to ride a roller coaster actually themed on jet planes (or was, it used to be Top Gun and the station modeled after an aircraft carrier) that is in fact nothing like a jet plane and doesn't even have inversions.

Goddamn. I legit want to see GK get forced to ride Top Thrill Dragster, front seat. 120+mph launch to 420 feet high hill in three seconds!

God what a cock-hydrant. One has to wonder what logic-free thought process led to that.

"If I pretend to faint, surely she'll take that as me not wanting to go and I'll escape with my dignity intact!"

It's sort of scary that we've encountered someone who I daresay is more of a paper tiger than OPL is, but there you fucking go.

I know, and I didn't tell him but that moment had me fully convinced he was all talk and a complete weenie.

I thought I'd start him off with the smaller roller coasters and promised him I wouldn't take him on the bigger rides. but part of me wishes I could have gotten him onto one of those rides or even Diamondback or Vortex.

Are those anything like the Cyclone, up here in NY? My uncle used to insist that one was mandatory:

Oh my god there was a ride called Top Gun/Flight Deck at my local amusement park and if it's the same thing wow that was the first big roller coaster i ever rode at the park what is he doing

Diamondback would have been GLORIOUS with that 210ft. first drop. And Vortex - which BTW was my first looping coaster - is a classic Arrow Corkscrew that at one point held the world record for most inversions. Imagine telling him that AFTER riding it!

But no, you really should have gotten him on The Beast. Most of it is hidden in the woods so it doesn't look nearly as big from the entrance as it is, so you wouldn't know it's held the title of being the longest wooden rollercoaster in the world since 1979.

The Racer, which is actually two mirror copy tracks that are dueling (it's credited with reviving the rollercoaster industry after the depression), is modeled after the original Cincinnatti Coney Island "Shooting Star" which was the standard "out-and-back" type coaster. Though in terms of tack layout, the "Woodstock Express" (formerly "The Beastie") probably is similar but it's a kiddie woodie.

That was probably a Paramount-owned park, like Kings Dominion I'm guessing? Either way, it couldn't have been the same exact ride, since the one at Kings Island was one of the only four Arrow Suspended type coasters built, and one of the last still running alongside its sister coaster Iron Dragon up at Cedar Point.

Man I gotta visit more amusement parks. I love me a good thrill ride. Anyhow, it's Carowinds and the ride I was referencing was this one.

Assuming you went to King's Island, did you try to get him to ride Drop Zone? Did he try to BS his way through that one too?

I take it you haven't been back there in a long while? Because if not after 2004, then you need to go back soon because you're in for a special treat. Firehawk's near-identical sister coaster Nighthawk (formerly BORG Assimilator pre-2006) is one of three Vekoma Flying Dutchman coasters in existence, and if you thought you were really flying on Top Gun/Afterburn, then you will be blown away on Nighthawk because everybody should ride a Vekoma Flying Dutchman at least once in their lives because it honestly feels like you are legit flying on them.

oh goodness what I wouldn't give to see a video of TGK on Drop Tower! It took a shitload of convincing for my (now ex) to make me ride that and I'm a thrill seeker. I can just imagine Jay screaming like a baby the entire time, and before and after the ride... and then you tell him "You know piloting a plane is worse than this?"
Man I wanna invite him down here and we go to Carowinds except. well.

Oh man, Carowinds is amazing! I visited my boyfriend and we went there with our friend and his bf. Me and mine went on Nighthawk and that was just the most absolutely terrifying thing. I was screaming and laughing the whole time. I dunno why people like The Intimidator more, Nighthawk was absolutely insane comparatively (at least imo...).

Yeah, we did go to Kings Island. It's about an hour drive from my home. No, I didn't try to get him to ride Drop Zone. I haven't even ridden Drop Zone.

I see.

I only rode Drop Zone/Tower once, and I wound up enjoying it. It was a little unnerving when we got to the top b/c of my younger brother trying to count down to the inevitable drop (and failing). What rides did Jay go on if roller coasters were out of the question?

I made this little art for the dude while watching his stream because I couldn't tolerate looking at him shirtless.

Just saying, but since you and I apparently live within a few miles of each other, wouldn't it be weird if we had encountered each other at some point and never knew it?
