Eh I'm alright with this, even if it's bad it won't be 2016 bad. But that kid better get himself some other roles so he doesn't get type casted into oblivion.

Looked shitty, honestly. I'd have rather seen the original passing of the torch idea they had years ago instead of autistic looking kid finding the Ecto-1.
 
Looks okay I guess but the problem is that I have zero interest in a Ghostbusters movie starring a bunch of kids, regardless of quality. I don't remember where I got that from, but Ghostbusters isn't really about the ghosts, it's about a bunch of guys going into self-employment and this couldn't be further removed from that, no matter how much of the iconography it copies.

Hope the kids will enjoy it, though.

That's why the first one worked so well, it was a group of down on their luck friends trying desperately to find something to stay afloat and just sort of accidentally falling into the most absurd premise that actually worked out pretty well. The ghosts were secondary to the dynamics between Ray, Peter, Egon, and Winston.
 
Ghostbusters works in different ways for different audiences. The relationships of the characters--to each other and to society--is a lot of fun for adults. The ghosts are just scary enough to frighten kids without terrifying them, and they love that. If it only had one of these aspects, it'd be pretty forgettable.

The new one is going to have ghosts (obviously), but I'm not seeing the entry point for adults. Are we supposed to see the world through Paul Rudd's character? He's awash in nostalgia, showing kids YouTube videos of a classic movie they don't know, telling them how cool the trap is, and recognizing a 1980s corporate mascot in a grocery store. Is that the hook? "Sit here for two hours congratulating yourself for remembering something you liked, and watch as younger people get it, too?" As far as nostalgia goes it's better than "let go of the past, kill it if you have to," but I hope there's something more to it.

Still cautiously optimistic. They can't ruin every IP I grew up with. Right?
