Surprised there is so many eSports awards. Isn't that whole industry in the dumps due to venture capitalist funding drying up and people realizing they won't probably be able to make tons of money in it?

My thoughts:

Starfield got what it deserved, only 1 nomination that it has no chance of wining.
Hogwarts unsurprising got 0 nominations, and twitter trannies are already celebrating. But looking at the "Best Action/Adventure Game" nominees, I don't think it actually deserved a nomination over any of the other games there.
Pizza Tower got snubbed, it deserved to be on "Best Independent Game" and to win.
The Snoot game parody "Goodbye Volcano High" got a nomination. These faggots can't stop shilling this absolute failure.

Let’s be honest. BG3 is going to sweep these awards, given how much buzz it has received in the community and the like, along with the fact that they never give the main award to the same series twice.

Baldur's Gate 3 gonna sweep.

Tears of the Kingdom is a direct improvement of BotW but that's all it is. RE4 is a remake like FF7 was. Super Mario Bros Wonder is a great super mario game but thats what it is. Spiderman 2? Alan Wake 2? lmfao.

Friendly reminder that the votes from the public mean nothing, only the votes from the jury (gamejournos) counts.

Best Action Game
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (FromSoftware/Bandai Namco)
  • Dead Island 2 (Dambuster Studios/Deep Silver)
  • Ghostrunner 2 (One More Level/505 Games)
  • Hi-Fi Rush (Tango Gameworks/Bethesda Softworks)
  • Remnant 2 (Gunfire Games/Gearbox Publishing)
I hope Dead Island 2 wins. They did a better job than Techland with Dying Light 2.

Content Creator of the Year
  • IronMouse
  • PeopleMakeGames
  • Quackity
  • Spreen
  • SypherPK
Literally whos. They didn't include vtubers.

Best Mobile Game
  • Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis (Applibot/Square Enix)
  • Honkai: Star Rail (HoYoverse)
  • Hello Kitty Island Adventure (Sunblink Entertainment)
  • Monster Hunter Now (Niantic/Capcom)
  • Terra Nil (Free Lives/Devolver/Netflix)
No mention of Nikke.

Best Adaptation
  • Castlevania: Nocturne (Powerhouse Animation/Netflix)
  • Gran Turismo (PlayStation Productions/Sony Pictures)
  • The Last of Us (PlayStation Productions/HBO)
  • The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Illumination/Nintendo/Universal Pictures)
  • Twisted Metal (PlayStation Productions/Peacock)
Reminder that this category was only created after TLoU was adapted to live-action.

BG3 has gay sex and bestiality, so it seems like an easy win here.

I hope a Japanese game wins, but it seems like an uphill battle.

There’s literally a melodramatic bullshit award lol.

The fact that I don't know any of the nominated content creators fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride.

I hope Forza Motorsport 2023 wins the sports category. Not because I think it deserves it (solid ass game but Motorfest deserves the love) but because of the sheer wave of autistic anger it will cause against in the Gran Turismo community. GT7 won it last year competing against basically nothing. The wave of coping, seething and purely making shit up if that VILE FM2023 gets the same award as their BEST RACING SIMULATOR IN THE WORLD will be some of the most fun I've had poking a community with a stick in awhile

I mean, are they wrong? I'm a huge open world fan and I wanted so bad to like Starfield, but it sucked a fat sausage. Even Fallout 4 had more redeeming qualities.
Starfield *may* have had a chance of getting a pity nomination for GOTY had Alan Wake 2 not turned out to be a surprise sucker punch success out of nowhere. Though let's be real, FF16 might have stood a chance of getting the GOTY spot if Alan Wake 2 hadn't happened, either.

The fact that Spider-Man 2 managed to get seven nominations despite the fact that it was widely mocked for being the most insufferable Spider-Man to date just shows the amount of short-sighted thinking that todays gamers have when it comes to “CURRENT NEW THING”

Am I dumb or were there more nominees in past years? I remember there being a huge wall of games, including some obscure ones in past years, but this year you only get to choose between 5-7 games and most of them are the same across all categories.

And why the fuck is Super Mario Wonder nominated for GOTY? What does it do so different from every other 2D Mario game?

The fact that Spider-Man 2 managed to get seven nominations despite the fact that it was widely mocked for being the most insufferable Spider-Man to date just shows the amount of short-sighted thinking that todays gamers have when it comes to “CURRENT NEW THING”
Let's not pretend a Sony game got nominated because of the gamers.

Literally whos. They didn't include vtubers.
so quackity is a hispanic youtuber that a lot of libtard twitter people like, he's most known for doing habbo raids and doing discord got talent

people make games is a youtube channel i remember that was famous for exposing roblox as a pedophile enabling site

"best sports game"
EA FC 23/24

go fuck yourself

Skyrim in Space doesn't get a nomination but somehow Alan Woke 2 (released a few weeks ago) does?
Oh yeah, I forgot that it's a Timmy Tencent exclusive, they're one of the sponsors of the Game Awards.
