Wholesome aside: I'm sure this is super late but Furby hacking is a thing. I first read about it years ago in 2600, I remember that all the possible sounds it could make were encoded on a little chip in MP3 or some other hilarious format at an even funnier bitrate. There's a series of conditions that unlock more of that audio file as time goes on, in order to give you the impression it's learning new stuff.

Here's a silly story: Back in 2011 when my little sister was still 4 years old she had a black and white furby, an old one too, and back then I lived with my mom (I'd just moved into the city and I lived there while I found a place of my own) and I had set my laptop in the dining room, and the dining room and the living room were just one big space. Anyway the furby's batteries were running low, and she was playing with it while standing near the dining table when the furby turned into the furby equivalent of malfunctioning krieger bots and my little sister just froze up, set the furby on the table, and then walked backwards all the way back into the living room without saying a word, staring at the furby like it was gonna eat her if she looked away.

After that she gave me the furby and I kept it around for a couple years before I threw it out because I don't need those things.

I've seen it before and I fucking love it
