I had some Furbies as a kid, but as soon as I got my first DS, I stopped playing with them.
On a related note, this reminds me of a group of weird adults I stumbled upon on YouTube who think their Baby Alive dolls (another robotic kids' toy) are real children:
The lady above had 25 of these dolls in March of 2017, and her collection keeps growing. She also does the same things with reborn baby dolls.

this “fandom” is infinitely more creepy than beanie baby or furby collectors. i don’t even know what it is about the reborn doll community that freaks me out so much.
at least with furbies it’s like, LOOK AT THESE SILLY CREATURES THAT COME IN VARIOUS LIMITED EDITION COLLECTABLE FORMS THAT ARE SUPER RARE, WOW! i can see why someone would want to collect them considering they are literally...collectable. the tumblr fandom is pretty terrible but i feel like outside of the sjw undertones it has, it’s kind of delightfully autistic.

with baby dolls/reborn babies, it all comes off as a crazy delusion. no collectable value or anything, just elaborate delusional all-consuming roleplay. these furby collectors give “personalities” to their furbies sometimes but it’s not even close to what i’ve seen with the reborn doll community. and sure furbies have had a stigma of being creepy, but it’s mostly a meme at this point. longfurb(pbuh) is adorable.
there’s nothing cute about the nightmarish uncanny valley silicone baby dolls that these creepy women like to play pretend with.

Longfurb I can live with. But if someone made a Longbaby out a reborn doll, I’m quitting life.
 
The creator of Longfurb has an FAQ up about her. It's not much, but it is a bit interesting. There was also a VICE article written about her. I've also got some various Longfurb images for your viewing pleasure.

As someone who grew up with Furbies, I think I'm qualified to say that they, like pigeons, clawed their way up from the depths of hell. Especially the new ones. You know that they have microphones in them which can be remotely activated? I don't trust something that in all likelihood is spying on children. They are pretty cute though.

From what I've gotten Transmed means that they believe in getting HRT therapy, top/bottom surgery and having a medical diagnosis. They get viewed as Truscum basically. They believe you need to have dysphoria to get the treatments to change your gender. Reasonable people basically.

:offtopic:From what I remember of the artist's description, it was indeed a school art project, specifically their final project for their college fine art course. The final project involved incorporating a modern pop culture object into a classical art piece. The artist remarked that the fine art course wasn't so great, but they received compliments from classmates and faculty for their creativity. /:offtopic:
