Kitase has spoken, The Ultimania book has stated there will be no story deviations from part 2 onwards.

Dunno what this means for what happened in part 1, but the roadmap in the book does mention more frequent updates. Maybe alternate endings and events will be stand alone sidequests?

"Diffulty" in this case meaning "grind a bunch".
Nope, the final boss for Hard Type is different from the original, even the sprite is different IIRC.

Anyone from Square Enix who isn't Yoshi-P is a born liar so fuck him lmao

I traveled back in time to attempt to stop Nomura from ruining the game, and he said that he'd anticipated me coming back in time to do that, and that he'd gone forward in time to tell an alternate version of myself to not go back in time, but he'd already told him. I never got the memo though...

He was right about the random encounters though. I'm enjoying that part about XV.

That's just corporate speak, for "uh we fucked up part 1 so much, that the current sales projections and predictions for part 2 will be so low that we'll lose money."

We can only hope, they made similar doublespeak bugpeople noises for Part One. Nomura will find a way to sink this ship with his autism I guarantee it. Meanwhile FFXIV will keep bankrolling the company while executives have tantrums about Yoshi-P being a competent game dev. I wonder if it ever crawls up Nomura's ass that Yoshi-P is more liked and respected than he is lol

basically, I have played every offline FF out of obligation. Even 13-3 was quite enjoyable, when I speedhack the game so the ATB bar ran 3x faster, made the game faster and more enjoyable. Even I played 15, despite how gay it was, but I waited for the complete package to come out. I can't just muster any motivation to play this game for how bad the story is.

Squeenix needs to find Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (Terranigma, Legend of Gaia, Ys) and make him the director for the next FF games. at least his games have soul put on them.

The sales projections apparently were not off for the remake and were more or less what was to be expected. Square seems pleased with the performance so far.

I don't think any big shakeups are going to happen, you need something on par with the TLOU2 leaks to get shit to change at Square Enix.

Either that or finally kill the god awful MMo genre so they can dump final fantasy 14 and get people back to making single player games.

All parts of FF7R will sell amazingly. The MMO however is the only decent game that Square has put out in the past ten years. It's also way too profitable for them to give up given that it's funding a lot of game development for Square.

MMO being decent is like saying the food poisoning you got from last night's chinese only made you shit yourself halfway to death instead of all the way.

There are so many issues with the MMO formula as a whole that needs to be changed that 14 doesn't address at all, it still heaps lots of tedium into the activities that should not be there.

They're like one stop up from Freemium FTP games as far as awful gameplay design structures go.

Yeah, that's true. I still enjoy it though

You would probably enjoy the elements better as a single player game.

It's like people saying that we don't need a new Elder Scrolls game because of ESO, mostly they just want Lore Expositions and not a whole new game to play.

The MMO also saved the company. Granted, the company needed saving in the first place because the MMO nearly destroyed it first. But that was under a different guy, who is now gone. I'm sure the execs think that Tanaka was the problem and that now he's gone, all is well for their next MMO, FF17 or whatever number, in a few more years. We'll see. But there's no way they ever leave the MMO business; FF11 was very profitable in its heyday and FF14 has exceeded FF11's success.

Do they consider what's already happened not to be a radical deviation?

I agree with you but the irony of you saying this as a giant fan of grindy JRPGs is big.

They mean, as I said before, the game will be basically the same until the end of each installment.
