Sephiroth and not Jenova because Sephiroth's ego was just that strong.
everything in the extended franchise that is 7 points to the opposite, Sephiroth isn't a man of much ego, his inner thoughts is that he's treated like a tool, he's isolated, and almost everyone has betrayed or left him, he's dedicated to his work because he has nothing else.
that's why the revelation that is Mother is something important, something ancient and special, which in turn, makes HIM special beyond being Shinra's weapon, is so enticing for him, only to be crushed to find out he's a weird lab baby.

To me it seem Jenova simply took over most of what Sephiroth was and made it "her", he's still there, but its her motivations and wants that "he" goes with, which is to consume the planet and fly off, If he was a being of such ego that he could quash Jenova, he'd be doing something of his own desire, instead he wants to destroy all life on the planet and go do it again, which is Jenova's lifecycle.

I don't remember if Golbez even knows he's Lunarian. Either way those blokes are all asleep.
Yeah, he's aware. His dad told him when he was young.

Golbez looking into a mirror after killing his dad or whatever happened, "mark my words, I'm gonna be a star."
Golbez didn't kill his dad, a violent paranoid mob attacked him and he didn't defend himself, then died of his injuries. Then his mom basically died in childbirth with Cecil and no one in the village cared, then Zemus contacted him and said "get revenge on them all and take your rightful place" and Golbez abandoned Cecil by the roadside.

But damn straight he's a star.

Cool and megabased thread, I have a little question obviously preferably with no spoilers attached, but what would you play first, FF XIII or IX ? I got both (and will get XII, the OG version, not remake) in the PSN sale that started yesterday, I've gotten a bit occupied so I haven't really touched them all (barely played like 2 hours of Trails of Cold Steel 1 since I got that too) but I would like to focus in one before starting the other and would like some opinions from fellow FF fans (for fun mostly tbh).

FF XIII or IX
I agree with the hivemind, supposing IX beats XIII handily as I suspect. I'd play IX in DuckStation, but apparently the new reworks are good. I'd run IX, then XII, then XIII, myself. The other predominant suggestion is probably XII before IX but they're just wrong. You will not find all of the secrets in IX without some kind of guide.

Sounds good enough to me, and admittedly I'm a bit more excited for IX since compared to most other FF games I've never played even a second of it and I've always heard really good things about it on YouTube and such.

Oh and regarding the remake I saw some videos online and it seems good enough for me, and it's the only way to play it on PS5 regardless, I want the platinum on top of that.

I would recommend FFIX over XIII. In case you or anyone is planning to play it on pc, i would recommend installing the moguri mod if you want to touch up the game a little, other than that you dont really need to mod the game. If you are going to platinum FFIX youll need atleast 2 playthroughs because one of those will require you to essentially speedrun the game to get Excalibur near the end of the game. Other than that the platinum is pretty achievable.

Yeah I tend to research platinums a bit before even thinking if I'll try them or not, in this case I am worried about the rope jumping one more than any other, there's one for killing a bunch of enemies but that's just mindless grind, rope jumping on the other hand, yeah, seems difficult I even tried it since I managed to play a bit of IX like 2 hours ago, and I don't think I reached more than 20, maybe I'll check online if I can somehow make it easier or cheese it lol.

Regarding XIII, do we even have any other choice ? Like I doubt anyone is going to buy a PS3 just to play XIII and it's sequels, genuinely hoping we get some sort of upgraded version on current gen consoles, kinda like XII Zodiac age.

The vivi jumping rope is more doable in the "modern version" of the game. That said you can just get an autclicker or just get a mod that allows you to slow down the game. Is stil tedious and one of the more annoying achievements that ive personally done(i raw dogged that jump rope to 1000)

You have my respect lmao! I tried the rope jumping by hand but I'm not built for it lol, there were more chances of me roping than doing 1000 consecutive rope jumps, ended up using a script and PS remote play, took a bit but I eventually got it.

Enjoying the game a lot to be honest, though I really wish we could decide the specific speed like we can on FF 12 Zodiac age, but the speed is perfect for grinding so it doesn't matter too much in the end, I'm digging a lot the ability system, it makes grinding feel more rewarding and gives a lot of customization options, the art style is obviously 10/10, the backgrounds look stunning (just finished the ice cave yesterday and that was beautiful), the models aren't half bad either, sure they're still definitely from a PS1 but they look way better than the FF 7 ones and that to me really shows how far Square had developed same with the copious amounts of cutscenes, overall I get now why lots of people seem to consider it one of the if not the best FF, I'll enjoy a lot the rest of the game I'm sure, the narrative definitely is for me and something I kinda missed from more modern FF games, they really managed to properly show their vision for the game in all aspects.

Why FFV had a system job and why Mystic Knight is the best job?
Almost wrapped up another playthrough of V. I’ve handicapped myself by not touching Spellblade.

I figured Omega was gonna be the one to make me tap out, but I limped to victory with rapid-fire and Enhancers.
Old Jennifer is OG era Aerith, young Jen is Before Crisis/ Crisis Core Aerith. You can tell because she's wearing blue and white.
