Alleged FF7 leaks are pretty kino. There's a new battle system that aims to faithfully ape the original turn based system better then the modes in remake/rebirth

My favorite part is there's supposed to be a mystery new party member besides Vincent and Cid that's tagging along permanently. I have a rough idea of who it is, and even though it may piss some people off I'm hyped.

Finally we are going off the rails and doing some fun crazy shit.

I miss my nigga genesis, would be cool to fight him in the remake. That said ive been considering getting ff7 remake now that its been awhile and i can get it cheaper.

I’m guessing it would be Zack. But I doubt these leaks.

Nope. I don't think they'll go for an obvious choice. If Zack shows up I think he'll be a temporary party leader.

I'll give a hint. The character was mentioned in prior leaks of rebirths ending before they decided to chop out everything after the ambiguous death scene.

I know Sephiroth is more recognizable, but it never made sense to me that he pulls a reverse UNO like that. He took one little mako bath and Space mom got cucked instantly.

In the preexisting lore she is pretty redundant. She pretends to be Sephiroth to give him materia? Why couldn’t it just be Sephiroth the whole time? Then he just fucks off to the Planet core anyway. :stress:

I guess it makes more sense why Sephiroth wouldn’t ever waste the entire party, and it adds some mechanics to the influence he exerts over Jenova Cell-havers.

From a mechanical standpoint, Jenova is needed for the plot as written for Sephiroth to be able to do anything outside the Northern Crater. His real body is stuck in a crystal at the crater trying to regrow legs, so all his actions for most of the game are either Jenova body parts that are shaped like Sephiroth or people with Jenova cells that Sephiroth is manipulating.

Although really, since Sephiroth's personality got fucked up in the whole process and he took over Jenova's motivations, the Sephiroth we see within FF7 is really more of a Sephiroth-Jenova fusion that only considers himself Sephiroth and not Jenova because Sephiroth's ego was just that strong.

Sephiroth turning out to be a Jenova skin suit is a good twist, genuinely unexpected even though they told you earlier that Jenova imitates 'dead' people to catfish everyone who knew them. And it ties into the identity shit, with Cloud walking around with Zack's sword and Sephiroth convinced he’s this ancient Cetra.

This is my preference, I still like the original better where it’s this blurry line of who’s piloting who. The pre-final boss is called Synthesis.

I like this as a little bit more literal than my interpretation that his nature became more expressed over time; with outside events being convenient triggers the same way Tony Soprano lies to himself about whether he will change.
