Read about Octopath 0, so it's a repackaged failed gacha? That's pretty damning, it needs to be completely redone to be worth playing in story and systems.

Yes, finished it twice. You can see the duct tape holding it together everywhere, but there are cool things about it. Combat is fun, dungeons are good, and the Backstreet Boys make for a good party. It's a flawed game, but that adds to its charm.
ty for answering

is XV any good?
I personally enjoyed it for what it was(base game) i would recommend the royal version that has the dlc as it will explains parts of the story that weren't explained on the base game. I would also suggest to play the dlcs as they come about in the story so that sht wont feel disjointed. Combat is surprisingly fun and by the end you get a funny ring with funny abilities. Post game for me was annoying because of the fucking Yoda Tomberry(youll understand when you get there, if you get to that point)

As for the story it fell flat for me, there are good ideas but they dont really capitalize on them. I enjoyed the road trip with the boys and their banter is fun to listen to although get used to Ignis "ive come up with a new recipe"

As for the difficulty, just play it on hard or its equivalent as, imo, find the game to be easy since you get whats basically an "avoid almost everything" button and magic can be abused if you know what youre doing. Weapon variety is fun so pick whichever you like, theres lots to go around.

All that said if you pick up the game, enjoy the ride, literally.
