So far the plot is standard but the writing is kino. Sephiroth is 100 percent joining the group later on and I can only imagine how amazing the back and forth posting between him and cloud will get.
Oh, sorry, I thought fantasy RPGs where supposed to be about heroic figures going out on epic quests to defeat ancient evils and see the mysteries of the world and whatnot. I guess that's too cringe and outdated for the Modern Audience™ and RPGs instead should be about grappling with the banal everyday problems of modern life like getting called gay because you like to sew.
They've been trying to half-way redeem Sephiroth for a while now, first with the game depicting his training years, and now with the Remakes/sequels/time travel games where he's clearly trying to escape his fate of being a big dumb villain who gets killed at the end.
just because they're fantasy rpg characters, that doesn't mean they can't talk about mundane stuff about their lives like talking about the glory of bazongas while trekking to save the world making small talk along the way, you know
I mean do what you like but GBA audio is far and away the worst audio of any of the remakes. And the postage-stamp sized screen really does lose a lot of fidelity. NES FFs aren't bad on GBA but I can't handle the SNES ports. At some point, I may play the FF6 GBA for the extra dungeon, but that's about the only reason I would.

When was Sephiroth uber gay? I know he calls Cloud a puppy in Rebirth which is gay as hell, but OG 7 Sephiroth and Remake Sephiroth come off as 2 different characters to me.
He doesn't necessarily have to be a good guy to join up for giggles. The last Mobile Dissida had him available to join up alongside Kefka and everyone got pissed off at the moogle that allowed it to happen.
Rebirth literally has him describe the planet as a women and him pleasuring it. It's the funniest shit.
I don't know how anyone looks at a guy with long-ass hair, an open V-neck top, and a fondness for black leather and goes "Yes, he's 100% heterosexual". Even by 1980's standards that shit's gay as fuck.

The excuse they had in that game is that the moogle sidekick could collect people's "coordinates" and could teleport them to his location whenever there was a fight. This was supposed to be the in-universe reason why you can use whatever character you want in battle even they aren't involved in that part of the plot, because Mog is (almost) always around where the player viewpoint is and could instantly call whoever to come fight. So all the villains are some point when they were made playable had a side chapter where they hand their coordinates over to Mog for whatever reason, whether to keep watch over them or screw with them or whatever, with the idea that Mog could then call them to fight when needed, which half the time would annoy the heroes.
As long as the writing’s good I can accept it. For as shit NT was, I will give it props for not having Cloud be a mopey drag, Terra not be a mopey skittish doormat, and portraying Noctis as a dipshit surrounded by weirdos and freaks.
