There are a lot of hints in the story, just ones that require more background knowledge than your average person picking up the game is likely to have. It also isn’t anywhere near as convoluted or retarded as kingdom hearts lore. There’s no completely unknown elements and every major player that is likely to be involved has already been shown by game 2. It would also be incredibly strange to tie up all questions on the second game of a trilogy. They are taking a pre existing story and trying to find a way to make it still surprising
 
So cinematic and soulful that it has le sound design music AND anime grunts blasting over what was originally a more quiet and depressing scene that began to climax into a burst of emotion. True masterpiece. So surprising. I'm convinved only retarded faggots can defend this shit due to sunk cost fallacy.
Another fagified scene that may as well have been a cgi film adaptation of ff7:
Original: an evil company murdering a bunch of people with deafening silence, cutting to the president listening to real classical music while he watches emphasizing his enjoyment of this spectacle he created. A somber melody follows in its ruins. Everyone is dead, and THERE IS NO TURNING BACK. It is a pivotal moment in FF7 gameplay wise.
remake: Epic music all throughout. It can very well be a scene from Advent Children or a modern film. Everything following could have been good but all the townsfolk are fine and basically survive when you help them, lessening the impact of the tragedy of essentially losing Avalanche. It is a mere footnote in remake with walking segments that only make you wish they all died.
I can't blame all of this on them. Crisis Core and Advent Children sealed its fate of cheesy faggotry in their new timeline.

I'm just surprised how cucked FF fans have been with any criticism against their sacred cows. Then again maybe the series did die after the directors lost their sauce and square milked it while neglected their other RPGs.

I think you're confusing your subjective dislike for a thing as an objective failing. You don't have to justify to everyone else why you dislike a thing.

In this one regardless, everyone knew it was coming. Also it’s a big leap to call me a FF fan in general. Outside of 7,10, and somewhat 8 I don’t give a shit about anything else they’ve made and think the other new games 14-16 are absolute dogshit. That’s subjective but my defenses of the 7 remake aren’t some “cucked FF fan defense”. I was far more critical when remake released because I didn’t know where they were going with it
 
I’m waiting for Part 3.

I already don’t like the Remakes as much as the originals BUT the Remakes haven’t ruined the original for me. Part 3 might and that’s a problem. Fortunately I can rely on the Remakes being less popular than the original and most of the damage being done while I ignored the series.
 
Despite the fact that I don’t like the story of these new games, I know I’ll still very likely enjoy part 3. I can name problems with FFXVI like the pacing being utter shit and the MMO design, yet it was still one of my favorite games in 2023. I like to do it the synthetic man way where I focus more on the negatives because, despite what Reddit says, that’s far more entertaining.
 
I'm playing Romancing SaGa 2, or at least trying to. I don't know why but despite all the glowing reviews I find the game a chore to play. It just feels so static, like nothing flows well, and adding to it all the fucking pixel art and the Octopath Traveler weakness gameplay it just feels so gay and uninspired.

The SaGa games are bad. Even the good ones are bad. The enjoyability I get from them isn't the same I get from FF.

With FF I'm expecting characters I like, a cool interesting world, and some relatively deep RPG combat. And those things are fun to me.

With SaGa I'm expecting the JRPG equivalent of a datura hallucination. Nothing makes any sense. I never know if what I'm doing is actually affecting the world, and when it does, I usually can't understand why. I ate this meat and my robot turned into a t-rex? Why the fuck not.

That is also fun to me, just in a very different way.

Hopeless optimism. On the one hand I'd hate to see them rape Chrono Trigger, but on the other, the potential there is so good that the 0.1% chance it's amazing and faithful almost seems worth it.

What we'll actually get is a lazy, low-budget, censored version of CT slapped together in HD2D, and they'll call it a day. Then all the fake fans and libtards will call you a gooner for not liking Ayla in a burqa, or the black men populating the now diverse cities, or the obligatory LGBT side quest (RIP Flea btw).

Tbh you have to buy or look at leaked copies of overpriced supplemental material to really understand what the devs meant. Or at least shut down other retards’ retarded theories.
 
I finished FF7 on emulation while I was away with the Beacause translation and it was great. My only experience was the botched original translation. The remakes have maintained the dialogue, they just do stuff to the narrative I don't find amusing. I give the remakes shit but I hope they do something actually cool with the ending and have a way to tie the progress together for having the entire trilogy given the remakes may as well just be NG+/sequels. It sucks that its just endless space after the ending and credits, since I forgot to go back and fight that absurdly hard wandering green Weapon in the sea but at least I found a secret bossfight with Reno and Rude in a wrecked helicopter in the ocean. I'm hoping the third part will have that kind of cool out of the way exploration but they all seem more linear and like traditional open world design.
Time to replay Crisis Core after I finish I & II Dawn Of Souls. Or should I move on to VIII? Or IX?
