Beat Rebirth last night. I'm not done with it yet since I plan on doing the post-game Gilgamesh stuff along with that last dumb "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" sidequest, but I liked the game overall.
I'm glad the one thing everyone seems to agree on is that there really are way too many minigames, and that the majority of them just aren't fun. I'd say the most enjoyable are chocobo racing and Queen's Blood while the ones that made me want to tear my hair out the most were Glide de Chocobo and Cactuar Crush. No fucking way am I getting the high score on all of those to complete the Treasure Trove, sorry Johnny.
I'm surprised and a little disappointed Zack didn't do more until the final chapter, his segments were so short and mundane. What I did like - and also wasn't expecting - was him having a Synergy ability with Cloud.
Was also disappointed they didn't play "You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet" in the Forgotten Capital; the new track they put there was good in its own way but just didn't have that same ominous vibe.
The final boss rush gauntlet was a bit much. Not overly challenging, but tedious, and they blew their load early with Bizarro Sephiroth. I do like how it splits the party up for each one and gives you free Limit Breaks though.
I didn't get all the confused complaints about the ending at first and thought Cloud just hallucinated saving Aerith, and that she was appearing to him afterwards via the lifestream. Didn't catch the "time fracturing" thing at all until I read an explanation.

Late but yeah, that all checks out. I won't lie and say I understand the ending 100% (what's going on with Glenn?), but it is clearer to me now. Very much needlessly time-fucky though.
