I have to admit I do enjoy a lot of the expanding of characters and game segments they did in Remake, but I still wish they had just done an actual remake instead of a weird sequel. I’d been looking forward to a remake since the ps3 tech demo and while the game was fun, realizing it wasn’t actually the same story was a big let down.

If they don't make a true remake reusing all these assets then they're idiots, it's all there. When the last game is out modders could do it themselves, theoretically, but that's still a massive undertaking for modders. I hear there was/is an old TES game/s that were remade using the Oblivion or Skyrim engines, which is kind of a similar concept.

You might be thinking of Daggerfall, which dedicated fan(s) remade in the Unity engine, calling it Daggerfall Unity. You can actually get it off of GOG.

You've got two options for a 100 percent remake.

Cool Fan mods that upscale everything and make every character more like their battle models. Think going from FF7 to FF8 in terms of quality .

Or if you want to go more mainstream they are doing a Mobile game remake with Ever Crisis. It looks great and it does some cool stuff lorewise without compromising the original narrative.

Only issue is your guaranteed to pay some money to get past the grind and it has a mission structure so there's not much exploration.

Based on alleged leaks all i can say is that this game will be the one to divide the fanbase
 
I don’t really mind leaks so I’ll probably go look at them all. I looked at all the FFXVI leaks before launch. I don’t really care about story leaks but all I don’t wanna see is footage.
 
I’ve seen a few leaks, some sound crazier than others. One of the more legit being the Cloud/Tifa Golden Saucer kiss, though I haven't seen the screenshot itself. There’s a bunch of claims this one is real and that Tifa is the only date who can get a kiss, so brace for the impact of that shitstorm if true. Another I saw is that Aerith does die, which would both be unsurprising and make sense given the connection to Advent Children.

In slightly unrelated news, it turns out my phone is just too old to keep progressing in Ever Crisis’ story mode, which explains the constant crashes. Don’t get how my phone was able to run it to begin with tbh. It sucks but I suppose I could start fresh whenever my next upgrade is.

I'll give the remake series one thing, it does stuff or lets the player do stuff that is amusing and surprising.


Never would have imagined seeing Cloud do this.
 
I finally went back and finished the Yuffie DLC. Yuffie is a heckuva lot of fun to play as. And there were plenty of leering cleavage shots of the Shinra lady.

Besides that, it was overpriced for what is essentially four hours worth of content. And since progress doesn't carry over to Rebirth, I don't understand why the game would make you grind for materia when there's only two fucking fights left. Like, give me all that shit in the slums section so I can go ham in the Shinra section.

Honestly, it feels like they wanted your progress to carry over when they designed it but were like, "nah, fuck it" halfway through development of part 2.

Its extremely weird how difficult it is for me to get that if I already own the ps4 version on ps5. I kinda get it, but Jeeze.

One good thing is that if you have the save data for it, you'll get an extra summon Materia.

I am easy to please what can I say.

I for sure don't like Zach being playable, because that means either he actually comes back and is a character or you have to play an extended version of nibelheim twice in one game.

No rocket town in this one has me worried, like, are we gonna stuff all that stuff with Cid and rocket town in the 3rd game or are they stretching this shit out to 4 games? Or are they really just going to dump Cid's super compelling story just because he's not a soldier pretty boy they can sell posters of?
