When I first saw it back in 02, I thought it was an live action movie (yes, I was a stupid kid) but that say something about how good the visual was.
Roger Ebert was very impressed by the visuals (even if he said that story was not that special) so he gave the movie 3.5/4.

Have not yet.
Have put the game on the backburner as my autism is demanding that I finsh the KH games.
Anyway, what do people think about FF: The Spirths Within?
I know it has fuck all to do with Final Fantasy, but I find it to be such a fascinating movie to watch.
the Sci-Fi style is very neat but the story is hot garbage.
It would be a decent low budget scifi film, the problem was just the amount they spent on it

tried many times to play 6. cant get into it. might get the pixel remaster and try one last time to like it
How far did you get? There's a point a bit into the game where you are all separated and you can choose to play from the perspective of different characters at that point, and it's right around there it gets really good imo. I think it's right when you're on a raft or something.

I got it on DVD when I was a kid, I watched it maybe 3-4 times, and I can't remember a single thing about it. All I know was that I was very impressed by the visuals:

Those are crazy good for 2001, but if I watched it today, the movie might look like a puppet show.
It is the next day and I am looking at these models again, and it feels surreal. I remember thinking they looked so good, and wondered what could possibly improve in the future, because, hey, we're there.

22 years later, and the answer is, well, post-processing and lighting, pretty much. In still images, anyway. The lighting under the nose makes the nostrils look like they have their own little extra part that juts out on the inside, the hair looks like it's all one big solid object, and that man's ear looks flat with a texture applied. Still, that feels nitpicky, but its been 22 years, and modern game characters don't look 22 years worth of better:

Part of it is probably thst games seem go no longer cut away to prerendered cutscenes. I'm no technical guy but I think they use in-engine scenes now usually, or at least the same/similar assets if they are using prerendered still.

I assume if they didn't try to keep things consistent looking between gameplay and cutscenesthey could likely make the characters look much better. Personally I kinda miss seeing the graphics go from dogshit PS1 models to Xbox/early 360 tier graphics for cutscenes, but now I'm just sperging about something different.

Not sure, I've tried a few times. I remember a fight where you're in a cave and you have to control diff groups

I remember the painting girl, that's probably as far as I got

Hm... I think you get Relm after the part I mentioned, if you're not into it by time you recruit her it's probably just not for you. It's a good game but overrated imo. I wouldn't even put it in my top 5 FFs, personally.

This faggot says Dion the twink will be gay in FFXVI.

Because apparently pretty boys have never existed in FF before.

And yes people have made it their headcanon that Dion likes a huge lance up his ass.

If real then I knew FF16 being based was too good to be true. You might get no niggers in your game but you'll get LGBT or vice versa, it's mandatory in current year.

I'll admit, the idea of having the character of Aki Ross from Spirits Within being an actress who would appear in other films was really interesting, and I kind of wish that that happened.
Ive always found such an idea like that fascinating but I dont think it's been tried that much.

There was maybe one other character I can think of like that and it was Laura from the D trilogy by Kenji Eno.

Edit: as for the gay stuff.... There's a good possibly it's true. Nothing has been absolutely confirmed yet but Saudi Arabia banned it from release, which either means that dude is gay or the sex scenes are hardcore...... So he's probably gay. Cannot confirm just yet.

Is there any actual proof or just faggots on Twitter? Japs are pretty based about fags despite what some Libshit weebs like to say. Even characters that are gay in some JRPGs are only gay for laughs and when a serious relationship is explored its with someone of the opposite sex, Like Oliver from the Trails series. Dude is a flaming homo for seven games as a joke then bam. He's deeply involved with a woman and marries her.

The proof was “trust me bro”, because it was a rumor that Dion is gay. Now for whatever reason, people chose Dion as their gay character. I don’t know why.

Now I doubt he’s gay because Final Fantasy is one of the few franchises that hasn’t gone woke yet. If he is, the basedness is gone.

I think Saudi Arabia banned the game more because of the Iron Kingdom, with the priest looking kinda like a sand-nigger with the clothing, and them being an antagonistic force. I also hear it might be because of Ifrit, because of Ifrit being a demon in Islam.

We kind of already do that. Remember that animated insurance girl? They liked treating her like she was an "actress," I think they even revealed that she died her hair for the commercials at some point. More on point, Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse have had that whole 'animated actor' thing going on for a long time.

But those characters always just played one character, didn't they? Like no matter what Bugs does he's still Bugs, and acts like himself. The idea was for the "actress" to just take different roles completely, like any actress.

I replayed X-2 recently and I'm shocked. I cringed so much at this game when i was a wee lad but now it's become kind of like... charmingly trashy.
I haven't played it in years, but the battle system made up for the cringe when I was a kid. It's solid gameplay wise but fuck I wish it wasn't about a bunch of chicks.

Another complaint was that 90 percent of the game was a joke when it came to difficulty and needed enemy level scaling due to the game's non-linear nature.
