A hilarious foible of FF Heroines is how often they get away with murder because of sex appeal. Contrary to the reputation of the series, and ironically unlike most gooner game franchises.

speaking of, Aerith in the Remake knows the ENTIRE plot of FF7 and chooses to tell absolutely no one, so she puts Cloud and everyone else through some sad shit including her death just so she could sing a new longing song about what can never really be.

Eh. Maybe. We don’t actually know. I suspect that’s a temporal prime directive thing though. Especially since I get the vibe her information is imperfect and she has to have faith in the will of the planet. It also borders on “Sorry my death made you sad again” too.

I mean she DOES know, she just chooses to not do anything about it, unlike Sephiroth who is trying everything he can to fuck with the timeline (not the one who kills Aerith, he's just the regular timeline doing the things he always did) so that he wins instead.

I was honestly impressed the death still happened, both remakes kind of hint that character deaths and events could be undone, but with her, I suppose she specifically would go out of her way to die like she did.

I think this is speculative on your part, at the moment. What’s going to happen I bet is 1) she knows the broad series of events 2) the planet wants to stick to those events 3) she obeys the planet, knowingly or unknowingly 4) but the Planet will be wrong 5) however something she did out of “sentimental human weakness” (like giving Holy to Cloud) will save the day.

Or maybe it will be a load of crap.

She knows a decent chunk in Remake. But that's a hell of a thing to spring on cloud when he barely even knows her. But after the final battle she gets her memory wiped by the whispers. There's alt aerith who knows but again she barely has any time to tell cloud anything. Hell she probably barely has the workings of a plan and doesn't want to traumatize him.


With all the dead realities ( aka split world/timelines that ended before they even technically began) she probably did try to tell him at one point but it didn't work out.

I forgot that it’s stated, for obviously this reason, that the Whispers take her “future memories” away.

Add in the fact that the party caring a lot about her memory was important to the plot, and that she really isn’t the sex appeal character in the first place, I shouldn’t have humored the argument like I did. Aerith remains a lightning rod for forced deconstruction/subversion, but being targeted proves she was always a paragon.
 
A new version of Final Fantasy VII will be released on Steam, meaning that the existing version will be delisted. Those who own the original version will receive a free copy of the new one.

is it? its just a "what if" sort of, where the events of Final Fantasy 7 are playing out, but alternate timelines (worlds as they say) are interfering with events, namely Sephiroth and some variant of Aerith, to try and steer events differently, Time boogeymen are trying to stop it.
