all this Aeris fighting reminds me I used to work with this dude I hated who always followed me around and talked to me all day against my will. once I wore a shinra t shirt and he told me that when 7 came out he was like obsessed with her and spent some insane amount of time grinding in sections where people were separated to get her and cloud to some high level only for her to die and him think it was a joke but he essentially threw off the games pacing and had an under leveled party outside of cloud after that and had to waste more time grinding to make up for that. what kind of retard goes out of their way to make sure everyone else sucks in an rpg besides their waifu? he got unlucky because at the time who would have thought shed be gone forever, but still what a dumbfuck.

Nowadays it really doesnt matter. Aerith died? She'll be back in some spinoff. Anytime FF7 is represented in any other game or gacha she'll be there like nothing happened. It's like an actor's character dying in a movie as opposed to an actual character dying in their world.

People already expect her to die, bigger shocker would be to actually let her live imo

It might effect some people more this time around since they're leaning heavily into the Clerith angst + Zack is alive in his timeline and he might witness or be unable to prevent her death. The graphics and voice acting would factor in too.

Either
A. They have someone interfere with her death (probably Zack) and die in her place
B. She dies anyway but it's in a different way/delayed
C. She dies in one timeline but not the other
or
D. She doesn't die at all due to timelines converging or something like that

The final shot of the trailer is that signature scene of her praying right before the camera starts to pan up, so they undoubtedly know people are either prepared for Aerith to die again or for something to happen there. Plot ghosts will be involved either way.
 
Wait so they still have physical copies of 7 on ps5 right? Its confusing. So the added expansion isn't physically on disc right

The trailer just showed black feathers falling down during that scene, and it cut away before we could see who was above her. You could say this was just to avoid spoilers for the original game, but I just thought of something much worse.

You know who also has black feathers falling as their calling card, is a big enough dick to off Aerith, and is currently alive right now?

That is retarded as hell, but that's exactly why I'm now open to possibility of it actually happening because something that fucking stupid would be the exact route Square would take.

Not sure if Ever Crisis is canon, but if it is and it's connected to the Remake in any way, then they're already doing the misguided sad boi backstory for Sephiroth. Are they setting up a Seph face turn here?

Considering the Remake has already completely thrown the original plot as well as Sephiroth's original characterization out the window, and everything else Ever Crisis has set-up in addition to that, I can safely say that is unfortunately not out of the question.

I can post actual proof for everything I say, after having made a rather neutral statement about the dev's plans which did nothing to undersell Tifa, and you cannot do the same.

As would I, and you know what? I just thought of something else.

Looking at the new designs side-by-side now, there's no way Vincent isn't actually Sephiroth's real dad in this continuity. Meaning, that's probably gonna come up, and be an absolute shitshow given the context of everything.

I will say that this does have the potential to be interesting if they actually acknowledge the elephant in the room which is Sephiroth's real mom being a terrible person. However, I doubt they actually will, and if they somehow do, they're probably just gonna use it to help push his redemption arc, or whatever bullshit.

Alright yeah I'm done with FF7R. I won't say I hate the game but it does a lot of stuff I hate. I got to the end of chapter 18 and knew that I still had a mountain of worthless filler to go through. I'm just going to write a few things:

  • This game desperately needed the Ground Zeroes treatment. I get you can't fit the original game in a modern development standard but this was too much for too little. This would've been fine being a 15 game for $30 or something. Why do I think that?
  • This game is the equivalent to 'increasing font to increase page count'. Forced walking segments, roundabout paths. The fact that the sewers was its own chapter is an insult to the world.
  • Everything story related they added to the game was worthless. Not a single character or narrative change did a damn thing to enhance the story. Who the fuck is this triumvirate of Wall Market? Why do I care about this Choco Sam fool?
  • Ghosts or whatever the fuck they are. I know about the twist at the end but if you want to change story beats just DO IT. You don't need some garbage alternate timeline nonsense.

I could keep going, but honestly I don't want to. At this point I want one of their composers to direct their next game because that's the only dope shit this game has to offer. I'm interested in Rebirth but if this game is any indication I'm only going to care about the OST.
 
A friend of mine really hopes Rebirth will pull the biggest fast one on everybody and kill off Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie, and then have Zack jump in to fill space.

Turn everything going forward into a bro adventure.
