This comparison has probably been made before, but has anyone considered that the gunt is actually Ralph, and Ethan's body is just so he can try to fit into human society?

Random question, do people actually look up to Dick as a sort of role model or something? I've enjoyed his content from time to time and generally find him entertaining but I always thought he seemed like someone you wouldn't want to behave like. The whole thing seemed like an exaggerated character to me when I first discovered him, do people genuinely look up to a caricature like that?

Dick is no role model. But he is just a normal guy with a "higher than journalist" level of testosterone. I don't see him as a lolcow, but he is a degenerate acid head who pulls in bank from laughing at 'tards. For this, I respect him in this age of betamales.

Would I want my daughter dating him? No.
Would I have a drink with him? Absolutely.
Would I take life advice from him? NO.

I find him to have a decent sense of humor.

If you listen to the emails on the show and some of the people who call in, they absolutely do. I'm willing to bet everyone who is apart of the "virgin contest" treats Dick like a life coach of sorts.

Sure, happens with a lot of e-celebs. Their fans start thinking of them as the coolest friend around (most of these livestreams they do are friend simulators after all) and they feel personally attacked if you point out that the e-celeb looks retarded or wrong about anything. It builds up the e-celeb's ego all the more and making them look even more retarded as they start to think everything they do is gold.

I planted the seeds for this one night two years ago. I had contacted dick over discord after he made surprise appearance on the killstream, I talked to him about how so many within his and Ralph's fan bases were virgins and that a Alpha Chad like him should try to help those willing to help themselves. At the very least it would make for some good content.

The Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh men were all once virgins and they shall do on to Dick what Brutus and the Liberatores did on to the Tyrant Ceaser.

Parasocial relationships have probably done a ton of damage to people who have grown up in the age of e-celebrity. I wonder what the world must look like to someone who is just becoming an adult and has had their formative years shaped by worshiping a Lets Player and grew an emotional attachment to them. Maybe those are the people still giving Spoony money on patreon.

I'd figure much younger people who have grown up with things like Let's Players would view it similarly to late night talk shows, just entertaining and relaxing people to listen to.

The people that honestly seem brain damaged about the e-celeb worship usually seem like they have a political bent. Often they want to see their views reflected back to them by someone they identify as cool so they can see themselves as cool for no reason other than agreeing with the e-celeb's views.

It is kind of sad, people substituting actual human interaction for virtual. I'll admit I'm doing it right now due to COVID restrictions but growing up where your entire social support structure is virtual and not grounded in your physical reality can't be good for a person's grasp of reality or their long term mental health. Its why I dont do Facebook, or Instagram, because there is what a person is presenting on the page and then there is the reality of who you actually know them to be. Add in them doing everything they can to fit the image on the webpage and it becomes depressing and pathetic. These virtual relationships, and your virtual image, are the no eye contact dry handjob of social interaction.

Watching and discussing people desperately debasing themselves for those ongoing no eye contact virtual handjobs though will never not be funny to me however.

Dick's fanbase is hard to pin down because they started as two factions who were dropped into his lap at roughly the same time due to the serendipitous start of The Dick Show during the downfall of Maddox and uprising of MAGA, which beefed up his Patreon because TDS was one of the few MAGA podcasts out there (even though he disavowed trump in the podcast right before the election). He nailed it with his fresh & funny pseudo-redpilled takes thereafter, and rode the wave perfectly up through the lolsuit.

I can't be bothered to analyze what happened to get him from there to here right now, but I will say he would have failed a thousand times over without his childhood friend THCean the audio engineer. The most memorable moments of TDS are Dax and Xwing reminiscing on their glory days. It's the same formula PPP and Surfer use for their best streams.

As an aside, it's funny to think about how if someone like mainstay TRR guest Mark Collett were asked to comment on this, he would decry it as a horrible example of what modernity has done to society. You wouldn't even have to venture into race and nationalism territory for this one.

It's bizarre how much dissonance there must be in the audience, thinking Dick must be a cool enough guy for being friendly to the show, but then if they actually listened to his content then a big enough chunk of them would be infuriated.

As a fan of TDS, the reason why Dick succeeded in the break up of TBPITU, is because he spoke about what everyone else was talking about. The break up. He is a great storyteller. He got us hooked looking forward to the next episode. The show hit its absolute pinnacle with the lolsuit. A cast of characters that branched out, musicians that had some great hits. Every episode was an absolute banger.

have the past few months been pretty weak? Yep. I’ll admit that. You can’t go from having absolute classics - Dick on Cables - to another rehash of Chris the Kiwi.

Then again, there is only so much material in the world. There have been plenty of spergs - Dustin was as bad as Riley, but the show is at its best when it is Dick & Shauvaugn, one call in and then some voicemails that Dick and Sheeen can riff off.
