My dad would get a huge pile of pickled herring from the appetizer buffet at this one restaurant, and he tried to get me to eat them to no avail. Never liked fish much.

I tried 'em on a pizza, but I gagged before I could even put them in my mouth, they literally smelled like hot cat food. Have not been brave enough to try any varieties since then. For what it's worth they were just packed in salt, so I assume tomato or hot sauce packed deenz would be better.

I fucking love the ones that come in the oval cans in the hispanic section at walmart. Something about the addition of tomato sauce and chilis makes them enjoyable. I also like the kind in louisiana hot sauce.

Anchovies are better than deenz on pizza. Just a bit salty. Deenz are much more mildly flavored than their aroma. I usually separate the slices that I'm going to have anchovies on because otherwise they flavor the rest of the pizza too. Ground anchovies also make a good pasta sauce ingredient. Puttanesca is a sauce that contains them and capers.

Have you ever considered just eating these poor people foods?

Sardines are actually really good in terms of calories, super low on carbs, omega-3 fatty acids.

Why aren't you eating deenz? Do you lack the balls?

They are really good if you can find the ones with tomato sauce you can fry them in the sauce and put on rice for a well rounded meal with a can of mixed vegetables.

I've betrayed my Deenz brothers, I have been tuna-pilled for way too long and I had deenz earlier and regret ever betraying my brothers in deenz.

I've been eating anchovies on bread and on pizza.

Had a deenz fest last night with deenz on thinly sliced grilled baguette bread with olive oil and topped with crumbled blue Stilton.

The main problem with deenz is cats go absolutely apeshit when you open a can so I had a separate can just to keep the cats busy while I ate.

Holy shit.

Sardines are the best, hands down. I generally prefer em in a stew or fisherman’s pie, just how my grandma used to make it.

Slightly off topic but in terms of cheap stuff I love offal, liver in various things, steamed kidney pudding and probably more I’m forgetting about.

Now I’m hungry.

I use sardines sometimes in cooking, pretty tasty stuff. Gives food a nice salty tang. Never understood why sardines and broccoli get memed as "the worst food ever".

If you don't like the way they smell, buy the good smoked ones from Latvia.

The smoked ones are the absolute best.

I feel like I should have posted in here earlier.
On a lark, and seeing them on some weirdo youtube video, I bought a 4 pack of the Nuri variety.
I have to say? They were the best deenz I ever had and I don't think I can eat any others.

Just got some deenz in from spain, la brujula. Fucking incredible. No fuckin way am I eating the fishy turds they pass off as sardines from the domestic market.
