Good creators; people who have talent and have built their skill and taken the time to create quality work even when it means years of ripping it all apart repeatedly, are very rare. Writing books or developing movies that are just decent schlock, like average action thrillers or romcoms, requires more ability and graft than most people will ever understand or be capable of.

Being a decent critic and being able to pinpoint and explain why something doesn't work is a skill in itself, but it's only one small part of what you need to be able to do to make good art. You do get a lot of critics, especially the youtube ones, who talk about writing their own books/screenplays, and I understand why they do. Most people who are interested enough to dedicate themselves to critique almost certainly have their own creative ambition. The problem is that when it turns out that their own work isn't great, it undermines their opinion in a lot of eyes, which it shouldn't really, as most people can neither write as well as they think they can, nor do they put in the level of work it requires to make something not shit.

My problem with the Drinker, is that he doesn't think too much about the issues that are at the bottom of what's making things shit. He can see things are shit, see what about the story is shit, like girlboss nonsense, but he doesn't tend to look beyond it. He's spent plenty of time criticising people for objecting to race-swapping, for years he went with calling JKR hateful because he heard that in pop-culture and never thought to look into why. He hates The Message, but he doesn't really seem to know what the message is and just how insidious it's been for a very long time. And none of that would bother me, if he didn't pretend that he does know what's happening and then chop and change as he suddenly realises some of the other critics he's in the same circles as, have different opinions and then he changes to agree with them, but it's just bandwagon jumping, rather than learning something new and adjusting his opinion.

I have always been in more autistic corners of the web, but in all those years of talking to every schizophrenic ideology under the sun, I have genuinely never seen anyone far-right actually support ben shapiro on anything. This might be anecdotal which I will admit. But almost everyone I have genuinely seen appreciate Shapiro tend to be more often normie center-right types. And considering his rhetoric is standard cuckservative MIGA faggotry, it's pretty reasonable to assume that is his audience.
