Strong disagree, he is under absolutely no obligation to talk about his personal family troubles with the Internet, especially to an audience that mostly wants to hear it for the drama. The more he publicly involves himself in his half-brother's craziness the more of a risk to his professional career, anything more than a "I am aware of what happened, please stop messaging me" would be a bad idea IMO. Cole knows one thing that Chris doesn't, if you don't give trolls ammunition then they can't bother you.

In hindsight, I realize that Cole has no obligation to tell us tards about what he thinks and feels. Hopefully, he's at least thinking about his monster of a mother. It is never too late to have a happy childhood.

Isn't cole the only half-sibling Chris has on his mother's side ? The doctors and the others were Bobs kids not barbs

Yeah, to be honest I'm not even entirely sure I agree with KF having a thread on Cole because the guy's done nothing wrong other than being born into a bad family (and having shit taste in films).

For me, any ambiguity about pity for Cole Smithey ends with my own thoughts. I know exactly how a I am feeling about all this, having only the thinnest connection as an outside observer, and I feel like I’m actually struggling to deal with it a little bit. I can’t even begin to imagine the emotions there are to try to comprehend if you’re at all connected even by hate
 
I think if he wants to keep quiet, he should. This is a deeply fucked up situation. He’s basically cut off contact with his mother and his brother, both of whom have treated him like shit in recent years for not giving them money/dropping everything to come and live with them. And now his insane brother has raped his mother. That’s an emotional rollercoaster right there. Sure, the guy’s an asshole, but I wouldn’t wish this situation on anyone.

It's not like Cole has ever done an interview with us or anything or any other person.

He's taking no interest in his brother,/mother or Internet infamy.

It's probably precisely what is transpired recently is one of the reasons he doesn't come around them; he sus as much.

I couldn't agree more. There are perhaps two people in this entire world that I've always wanted to know their opinions on Chris and Cole Smithey was one of them.

If he inherited any good sense from his father's side it will be to stay out of this situation. The State will take care of what remains of the Chandler estate and any attempt to help will just drag him and what reputation his has down with him. Pretending to be completely oblivious to this is the best move. Soon the heat will die down and he won't have to worry about being associated with it for at least another decade if not ever again.
 
I assume upon hearing the news, Cole wasn't surprised. He knows Barb, and their relationship absolutely wasn't the best. Right when he turned 18, he left and didn't look back. Cole's relationship with Chris would be about the same; all Cole wanted was to know his dad's real name. He didn't give a fuck on Chris winning the Parapa the Rapper contest.
 
Shame, Smithy could have had a progressive anti racist comrade in Chris Chan. Bonded over a mutual, seething hatred of Trump. He could have dealt with ensuring the media use proper pronouns and demanded a jury of colour to ensure the court case is not limited by Eurocentric perspectives.

Then again this dumpster fire is ridiculous enough as it is, I shouldn’t ask for more.
 
I don't see why Cole is under any obligation to act upon or even acknowledge the situation. He distanced himself from Chris and Barb over 20 years ago and I doubt he would want to be implicated in this shitstorm any more than he already is. Every "saga" brings an onslaught of weens who go after anyone who has been associated with Chris in the past, including Cole, so I don't blame him for putting his head down and keeping quiet.

The thing that made me think Cole was a piece of shit was when Chris tried to get Cole's vote for the Parappa Rapper contest, Cole was 44 years old at that point and Chris was 25. Cole was a grown ass man, and as it seems all Cole knew about Chris that he was his autistic and seemingly innocent half-brother. But Cole roped Chris into this game of Cole VS Barb and essentially took advantage of Chris and made him confront his mother about her lies and told Chris all the horrors and scorn he had for her for his childhood. He basically tried to turn Chris against Barb, his own mother.
As far as Cole knew, all his baby autistic brother wanted was for people he knew to vote for him for a silly little contest. And Cole tried to take a mile and turn it into a war against their mother.
And then to top it off, he told Chris he hates his father and to tell me when he dies.
So basically, all Chris asked was for Cole to vote for him, and Cole; who to an extant is a stranger/distant relative, turned that into "Our mom is a lying whore, do my bidding, confront mom about something that should only be between us, also I hate you're fucking father and I hope he dies and you tell me when!"
Cole is a piece of shit. And then really he just went on to be a pretentious, lame try hard movie critic that no one gives a fuck about.

But still, the harassment he's been getting since at least 2008, and now to find out the woman who gave birth to him was possibly raped by his own half-brother, or tricked into it, or just as bad maybe his foggy old woman mom initiated a sexual relationship with his little half-brother (after all its possible if she ain't playing with a full deck, and she did demand the spooning and such). Its fucked.

As bad as Cole is, it really makes you wonder how bad Barb really was behind closed doors. I mean, just seeing how fucked up Cole and Chris are from it all. I don't think Bob's entirely innocent either, though he made some very nice gestures towards Chris... I don't think it absolves him of being a bad parent.

I also think the possibility that Barb initiated things is a point I haven't seen brought up often, but it's one that crossed my mind. From the way it seemed events played out though, I highly doubt she initiated actual sexual contact. However, I think what Barb is guilty of emotional incest. She wanted Chris to take Bob's place, and I think Chris felt if she could demand (and get) all of that from him, he should be able to take what he wants. Which is incredibly disordered thinking. A healthy person would have moved out and cut ties, like Cole did, or put her in a care facility.

In the end, as messed up as it is, perhaps things would have turned out better for Chris if he had turned on Barb. Maybe Cole would have let him move in or helped him find somewhere Chris could get some therapy and maybe actually get on his feet. But Cole didn't come out entirely mentally unscathed by his childhood either, and that's the root of why he does messed up things. Not to say that it absolves him from being a turd, it just explains it.
