I haven't watched an entire episode since S1, I just scrub through them until there's a scene which isn't:
  • Poopy Penis Gore Humor
  • Dramatic dialogue in a single room across an entire episode between the dullest people with the worst plans/motivations
  • We wuz geniuses
  • Christians and Trumptards are the real megalomaniacs.
The penultimate episode is pretty much all of the above. I don't even know why I bother, I usually drop shows/books when they initially dip in quality. I suppose The Deep and Homelander are interesting performances. Everyone else has had their character raped into unrecognizable boring blobs.
Pretty much all episodes from season 3 onwards definitely have skippable moments, but I really wanted to point out this episode in particular felt like the whole thing could and should be skipped.

I'm only watching now because season 3 was kinda bad, but interesting enough to give season 4 a shot. Then season 4 was so bad that I was laughing out loud every episode. And now I feel like I'm in too deep to not at least finish the last season.

Snyder totally missed the point of the book. Ozymadias was completely miscast, costumes were Batman and Robin-level awful, but Jackie Earl Haley as Rorschach is so good he deserved to be in a much better movie.
I view the movie as flawed, getting a lot of things wrong, but still respectful of the source material.

If nothing else, Snyder kept the characters true to their comic counterparts, and Rorschach wasn't turned into a flanderized mockery as would have been the case not even 5 years after the movie was made.

It's amazing to watch a capeshit movie where an unapologetically right-wing chud gets to steal the show from every other character, and is basically treated as the protagonist.

A fun thought I just had, for all the kvetching Moore does about adaptations of his stories, the movies themselves are of much higher quality than those based on the works of other authors. Out of all of them the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is probably the only one that could be seen as outright bad.

The fake alien plot makes more sense, since it was something that Ozy could convince regular people was a threat that could be fought. Dr. M is omnipotent, so people would have no hope of survival, let alone victory and wouldn't go for Ozy's plan as easily.
I don't really think most people had any idea just how powerful Dr. Manhattan was, so either him or the alien would have served the same purpose - both are powerful and unknowable, and an everpresent threat.

I agree with Gay Sex Enjoyer that using Manhattan as the external threat that would pressure humanity to unite makes more sense within the context of the plot, since Ozymandias spent so much time trying to mentally break Dr. Manhattan, and paint him as a threat publicly.

The only wrinkle in using him is that Dr. Manhattan could just decide to come back one day and tell everyone the truth, but then again he could just as well tell everyone the alien squid was fake and gay and that Ozymandias bombed millions of people.

Anyone who doesn't think the alleyway fight scene with Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre against the street gang was completely inappropriate in tone and style when compared to the comic probably didn't get the point of the whole thing. Snyder took something that should be disturbing and makes it into a cool, stylized setpiece and the movie only gets worse from there.
That's the point. Most fans of the comic missed the point of it entirely. They saw badass heroes in a dark, gritty world who were willing to cross boundaries that most comic heroes won't, whereas the lesson Alan Moore was trying to impart was that you can't have unelected vigilantes with absolute power running around maiming or killing people on a whim, and comic book morality doesn't work in the real world.

What Alan Moore wanted to portray as disturbing, the fans loved it and wanted more. And the movie was made by the same fans of the book, the fans who liked guys like Rorschach, liked the fact that the book was so violent and dark, and wanted more of it.

Just look at how they portrayed Rorschach. It's more like how a fan of Rorschach would depict him as.

It's amazing to watch a capeshit movie where an unapologetically right-wing chud gets to steal the show from every other character, and is basically treated as the protagonist.
It was made back in the 2000s. Things weren't so far to the Left back then, and you still had some lingering Bush-era conservatism in movies and media where it's okay for a chud to dismember bad guys and be proven right. The Dark Knight Trilogy was in the same era, and it pretty much justified Bush-era surveillance tactics against terrorists. Batman in those movies was quite literally the equivalent of George W. Bush or Dick Cheney in body armor with bat ears.

There isn't much to Oh-Father, but damn is his actor killing it.

Gen-V has basically been made entirely pointless by this point. The virus has been made a dud and Marie assures us that her potential of being a threat to Homelander is actually all bullshit.

The Deep is still here.

It took two seasons for anyone to think "Oh right, the Russians gave Soldier Boy anti-supe powers, maybe we should follow up on that."

Sister Sage has given up because even she realizes how retarded she is. 'Love doesn't make any sense because I didn't see what the Supe Supremacist who spelled out his plans to me was doing, or that the Father I confirmed was feeling a strong paternal bond for his Son didn't abandon his son just because said son unknowingly got jerked off by his mom'.

Sage, why do you care about your boyfriend's genocidal desires? Your entire motivation here is to kill almost everyone on Earth so you don't have to deal with them.

Hughie and Starlight are whining about giving up like this isn't a 'Everything's at stake' situation.

Butcher does another spice girls pep talk. Full circle moment, I guess.

Missed opportunity having Hughie list out his favourite Billy Joel songs and not having 'Second Wind' on there despite that being a character defining song for him in season 2.

"You know, why do we even bother? Maybe people who are complying with super humans who'll kill them otherwise don't deserve to be saved." Starlight just loves consistently being terrible, doesn't she?

Mother's Milk got his nickname because he helped a wounded bird.

These speeches bemoaning the 'monsters we've become in our fight against evil' simply do not work in a story where, at every turn, the 'monstrous' option has always been the one that would save the day whilst the moral alternative basically just 'Sit back, cry and let the actual monsters reign'.

MM basically gives his own "Maybe hope is the real punk rock!" line.

All the psychics are bald.

So, now we're saying that Kessler was actually a moral guy who tried to encourage Butcher to not give into his dark urges... which is why Butcher's mind made him the devil on his shoulder?

Hughie acting like he doesn't know what Butcher is all about because we need drama.

Hughie distracting Synapse by thinking about Synapse's traumatic past is pretty cool.

I'm guessing this is supposed to be a sort of parallel to Frenchie hiding the others from Homelander in season 1.

Based Homelander ripped off Frenchie's balls.

I'm gonna assume that Kimiko isn't going to at all blame Sage for this since they probably would have been in a much safer position if Sage wasn't just sitting on her ass doing nothing.

Homelander just left? He didn't wait around for anyone to come back or go look for the one person he came her for and already assumed was hiding in the vent?

I'm going to be fair and point out that most of the popular points of criticism against this show are chud-fag, bigbunje "duurrrr nigger bad duurrrr fag bad duuurrr dei bad duuuurrrr".

However, to me, this image represents everything wrong with the boys.

Gotta follow Amazon's guidelines and be safe-edgy in the most retarded way.

They're not "illegal wet back beaners", they're "transgender immigrant rapists" because republican bad, leftie gud.

They just can't bring themselves to offend the almighty Left. Even if they have a puppet show openly mocking Christ, they still have to watch their tone and not offend the rainbow squad.

This right here is why people know the eternally-offended Hollywood Left is hypocritical.

It's okay to be offensive to the right people, it's not okay to offend the side they see as good. So they felt free to offend Christianity multiple times, yet offending the Left by having the bad guy use the word "beaner" is too much for them.

Meanwhile, Breaking Bad has a genuinely heroic character like Hank Schrader use the word without restraint. In front of a guy who is Latino. And they continued to play him straight, to the point where he died a hero, fighting for what was right in the end.

I knew something was off when the worst thing Stormfront did was call an Asian dude "yellow" before killing him. I'm not asking for gratuitous offensive language here, but if the ultimate racist isn't making me cringe in my seat then there's clearly something wrong with the writing.

I figured it out. Frenchie has always been unable to be manipulated as we saw in that filler episode when they were all affected by that mood changing plant that tried to get them to kill each other. He was unable to be affected by it because he takes SO much drugs. That's probably why homelander was not unable to read him to tell if he was lying so easily and Just like A Trains death Frenchie did not fear him.

We even saw in the episode that weed can make it so that psychic supes who have the ability to read people much better than Homelander counters them. So its fair to say that even a little bit of weed would make it so that homelander could not read the fear in such person at all considering that homelander can only really get the heart rate of someone when it comes to "Reading them". Frenchie is litterally known as always being on some form of drug, you think he wouldn't be on a painkiller or relaxant when under the stress of "torturing" his lover. Homelander saw how his heart rate was low, how he did not fear him, and likely believed that they were successful in making soldier boys power, and then fucked off. In that scene it was not Homelander who was on top, that's what scares Homelander the most, not being on top, and just like A-train who in his final moments did not fear him, it breaks his manchild ego.

Its probably a thing with the contract with Amazon, its either that or there is no show at all. I mean being edgy is fine, but being edgy with no meaning is just lame in my opinion.
