Why would they shut down the Vought-a-Burger? The reason they did it for Trump was because it's a massive security risk otherwise. Homelander is bulletproof.
Also, only $5.99 for that much burger? God damn.

At this point, do they even want to make a superhero show? There isn’t even a joke here. It’s just “Hur dur because Homelander is like Trump.”
It’s almost as asinine as when they talked about “banning the teaching of critical supe theory.” If you want satire, fine, but have something to say.

Outside of the relatively small audience who actually watches Eric Kripke's bizarre fetish porn series most people only know of Homelander from memes and IG edits that always make Homelander look cool, which makes stuff like this seem almost pro-Trump.
It's just: "Handsome super-powered badass from one of the million different capeshit shows is just like trump"

I don't know if anyone heard this but Hughie's actor seems pissed off that he's in the nude and is tired of it.
If true, thank god. Kripke's obsession with showing naked men is the worst part of the show. Especially with the insane double standards he has where male sexual assault is played for comedy

Ironically, blame Antony Starr.
He may hate the character and his fans, but Starr pretty much saw that Homelander was his last chance to be a series lead and basically went out of his way to make the character super likable and basically steal the show from everyone else, so that he might get another 4-5 years on his career and more lead roles/movie roles when the show ends. And to be frank, even Kripke and Rogen know that Homelander is the show's chief draw and actively resent it.
In hindsight, especially since they made it clear they had no fucking intention of doing a proper adaptation of the comic, they should have just killed Homelander off at the end of season two and pivoted to Stormfront as the main villain of the piece.
Stormfront kills Homelander and destroys the proof that she's a Nazi at the end of season two and now is the leader of the Seven. She goes full woke in public, staffing the Seven with minorities to deflect from growing rumors about her Nazi background while working to get a loyal sycophant installed as President who will be her puppet. Soldier Boy is released to stop her and fails and Stormfront admits that her philosophy is evolving from racial supremacy to super power supremacy and making things dire enough for Butcher to consider a virus to kill off all of the capes is a valid method to deal with her.

It always amazes me that random people on forums come up with much better plots than professional writers. I honestly want to be in the alternate universe were you are the writer for the show as your outline is so much better than what they’ve made.

I just wanted to watch corrupt superheroes do heinous things with lots of OTT gore involved. This series has nose-dived into such a cringefest and the writers are just digging their heels in and doing more political sperging despite the complaints - show is pretty much dead.

its because we give a shit and might know something about the thing we're talking about. If i put a gun up to your head and demanded you give me a plot for some tv show you've never heard of you'd probably make something pretty shitty too. That's sort of the hilarious part of the creative field, despite it being about creativity you're supposed to care as little about the job as your average electrician or plumber, just do what you're told fast and cheaply, who cares if it doesn't fit the canon, fuck it.
Mind you great producers know how to force their writes to pay attention to canon, Gary Shandling famously quit being a tv writer because he was tired of the bosses going "i don't think the character would do that/say that" about crappy sitcoms like three's company.
And then there's shows like the 90s era Simpsons where despite differing political views and writing styles the producers were able to get even the remote workers to write the plots in a way that it all gel'd together.
The main reason tv shows suck now, and especially the last dozen years is because the producers and writers don't care and are inexperienced at worst and openly hate the source material at best. Its crazy watching something like Suits or Burn Notice or Workaholics where the budget and quality of the acting, cinematography, and writing is on par with the type of porn films that win awards, but at least they sometimes try to make the arcs and episodes make sense.
about a dozen years ago everyone sort of figured out how to make tv shows look good, but that combined with GOT getting huge meant everyone greenlit these mega budget shows with amazing looking episodes but writing and acting so bad its parodied on TikTok, and it works because most people don't even pay too much attention anymore, its why reddit has its "media literacy" meme, pretending that surface level stuff the author intends as the message is profound, whereas you used to have ambiguous films and tv shows where any theory was valid, but now even taking things at face value is enough for midwits.
People blame DEI but i think its also the competency crisis in action and tons of people not wanting to step on toes. Obviously its one thing when its yelling at kids, but when it comes to a certain level of product you need to be able to both handle and give criticism and realize you're putting out shit. Kurt Metzger said he was the only person willing to say something if a sketch needed to be punched up or was shit back when he worked for Amy Schumer, and he was also the token male and token white (non-jew) for most of the show's duration as well. Meaning the poison was already well within the system before modern audiences would have noticed. the DEI showrunners making dogshit Disney+ shows were getting their union cards 15 years ago.
Instead of giving people a shot based on their ideas like what used to happen in the 90s, we're now well within the age of "what do you look like" style writers rooms and its why everything sucks so much because the type of people hired based on checking a box aren't going to handle or be able to get taught how to be up to par easily or at all.

It's just very poorly written. "Intelligent" characters written by less than intelligent writers are usually executed poorly, and this is also the case, here. There are a ton of plots that go nowhere and lead to nothing. Male sexual assault is played up for laughs. The politics of the show pale in comparison to the other more glaring flaws.
