At this point it's nothing more than Marvel with curse words and sex scenes and tons of political references. At first the ripoff costumes were part of the parody. They just copied Marvel or DC without really doing any original work. But now that the show is just another capeshit universe the lazily stolen costume designs and powers might as well be plagiarism. They are even copying the Marvel and DC business models.

"Let's take a Marvel superhero, steal their powers and costume design, then have them curse a lot, and engage in deviant sex". This is what being on the creative team for The Boys has essentially become.
 
I sometime wonder if the quality of the last couple of seasons could've been improved had Kripke not contracted Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I find it so ironic that the show started out being equally cynical to everyone, mocking any kind of person in power. Then the creator got a huge head and started telling trumpfellows on twitter that "this show isn't for you!" and diving deeper into the anti trump jokes in his show. Finally this last season, they outright mock Pizzagate because that is for some reason the one conspiracy they won't touch. (just too crazy bro.) Lastly, they try to play cute by mocking republicans and alluding to the January 6th capital storming AND allude to a president being assassinated. Which they have to apologize for before the episode, because that almost happened IRL. Hard to put into words, but them sticking their entire foot in their mouth and airing an episode about a right wing president almost being assassinated is too ironic and too funny, they kind of got what they deserved by playing too hard into the anti trump shit.

PS: Please bring Soldier Boy back, i don't care if he was a villain, his "villainy" of being a based ass boomer was so sick and made him awesome. After seeing his flanderization in Gen V, I'm worried he will suck, but it's the last hope we have. His entire character was cutting through the liberal bullshit of season 3, and I think the creators almost regret how much of a right wing icon he became.

He's coming back in season 5 on Homelander's side. Also, that was pretty clearly a version of him played for laughs. I wouldn't expect him to be quipping when we see the real him again.

Yeah, he was someone's memory of him or a vision, so he was not intended to be serious. I just got absolutely 0 menacing presence from him in that scene, and I feel the same way about Homelander and Butcher in Season 4. They both seem to be phoning it in, so I'm worried about SB.
