Your average Hollywood lefty involved in TV production hasn't moved on from Trump in the slightest. They ignored the abysmal reign of the current Corpse-In-Chief to keep telling us "orange man bad" and they'll do the same when Trump wins again this year.

It'll be near two decades of tanking their industry because they have convinced themselves that DJT is both a complete idiot and yet also the most evil Machiavellian genius villain of all time and now they want to convince everyone else of the same thing.

It's why the writing on a bunch of high profile shows is fairly shit. These people don't even really know what they are mad about.

I have a conspiracy theory they had to sidestep a lot of the Supe Virus plotline because Covid and it fucked with the entire flow of the story and caused massive amounts of rewrites. The hack lefty writers didn't know how to do anything other than patch the holes with jokes at the right wing's expense instead of trying to make something out of it

Which is ironic. From the 80s to the early 2010s the media was slapping you in the face with hot sexy chicks. You had them in movies, you had them in TV shows, you had them in kids' cartoons, you had them in comics, you had them in video games, they slapped tits and ass on almost everything in a cheap attempt to profit off from men's boners. Manga and Anime merely followed in their wake. For them to suddenly go anti-fanservice not only reeks of hypocrisy, but it turns the customer base which they nurtured for decades against them.

Even the Boys comic wasn't immune. Most of Starlight and Hughie's interactions were Simon Pegg with a blonde naked woman. Imagine if they did that for the show. Imagine a non-plastic surgery Erin Moriarty, and most of her scenes with Jack Quaid is her buck-naked and their characters having sex. That would've been the show if it was made 20 years ago. And I bet it would've made the show more likeable than just going ''orange man bad''/''toxic masculinity bad'' all the time, or inserting gross sex jokes that humiliate men. People go to fiction to run away from real-world problems, not to be constantly reminded of them.

Damn, we really didn't know how lucky we were back in the day.

I'm still seething about how this slop show (though granted this was back in Season 1, when the show was at least a 7/10) disrespected a great film like Taxi Driver.

As far as I know by skimming the wiki it seems like this second shapeshifter is at least a 'real woman' in their core form unlike the first one shown in S1 where it was some sex offender looking guy.

We don't really know the shapeshifter's true form yet though so the jury is still out on it but a small cope I got.

If all the Supes we see in the show are supposed to be expies of existing superheroes from Marvel/DC then the first shapeshifter was probably based on Morph fron the X-Men animated series who was a guy. Then maybe this second one is a woman like Mystique or Husk? Both are women in their normal IPs.

Homelanders super hearing has factored into things far less this season than previous ones. If I was being generous, I could say it's because Mauve permanently destroyed one of his ears last season. But I think the writers just forgot that he is supposed to have super hearing.

There has been a lot of "vaccines" stuff this season. Which seems odd because no equivalent of covid seems to have happened in universe so there's no explanation about why it is a big culture war issue all of a sudden.

Also, Homelander can take bullets and have them bounce off him. How is a needle meant to pierce his skin?

The fact I’ve put more thought into this than the writers is insane.

EDIT: there’s a ton of “vaccines give you autism” on the left too, so it’s a weird culture war point to keep pressing

Homelander leading a superhero army to take over the government, Butcher trapping a scientist to create a virus that kills supes, etc etc. I think Kripke wanted the show go on for several more seasons, but Amazon told him to pound sand and that he only gets one more season after this, so hes lifting everything he can fit into the show from the comics to bring it to a conclusion. Ironically, if Kripke wasn't the showrunner and people who actually cared about telling a good story were still in charge, this show could've lasted for 10 seasons. Ennis should've had some creative involvement after season 1, he actually liked what they were doing with his characters and saw the potential to improve on his original work.

I mentioned it beforehand, but they could have kept shit going for 3-4 more seasons purely off of wholesale ripping off Lifedeath or Avengers Annual #10 with Homelander. Have him lose his powers and it fucks him up big time and he goes on walkabout after shit happens where everyone thinks he's dead and he gets a redemption arc so that he can sacrifice himself to stop a new big bad that is the end of series bad guy. With the implication being made over the course of this arc, that Homelander being taken out is the only reason this newer, more dangerous big bad could rise and maybe even have Homelander refuse the call to try and get his powers back for a bit.

Or hell, just fucking rip-off Wanted with the Fraternity of Evil.

There are actually supervillains out there and have been since 1914-1945 and they cut a deal with the Allied Powers where they got to do whatever the fuck they wanted to with no consequences in exchange for creating the A-Bomb for FDR/Truman. And they have a similar alliance with Vought which is the real reasons super heroes are coddled and treated like spoiled celebrities and don't do anything except search and rescue or fight muggers and staged stunts in war zones.

Not Killer/Wesley and his kin get nervous when they start hearing that Stormfront is back and how Stormfront was one of the Vought heroes who knew about the Fraternity and had figured that the only way to beat them was to conquer the Earth first. And when Homelander was radicalized by her into wanting to conquer the world (and the Not-Fraternity being scared shitless of Homelander fucking their shit up), we get them planting Sister Sage into the Seven to spy for them and a huge payoff being in the form of season four ending with the Fraternity going public, fucking shit up and killing a bunch of main characters, and declaring war on super-heroes, forcing an endgame of Homelander and Butcher having to work together, especially after Not Killer/Wesley murders Ryan in front of Homelander just to hammer home that he's dealing with honest to goodness super powered villains who don't take shit and want heroes like Homelander dead.

Sadly Amazon is too big to fail at this point. And Rogen's laterally moved out of acting to producing shit since he's become irrevocable box office poison.

Also, would not be shocked if Rogen and Kripke in particular, are Biden for life stans who are currently throwing a tantrum that the media has decided to basically stop white knighting/gaslighting people over Biden's mental decline and would gladly let a dementia riddled Biden cause WW3 and Israel be full on genocided, rather than allow Trump to be re-elected.

This new shapeshifter is like Cate from Gen V in that she can learn your memories. Hence this new one knowing Starlight's computer and safe passwords. Also the first shifter being an ugly fat pig is clearly a joke about how Mystique is always played by a blonde supermodel looking woman so they inverted it.

This one has reptilian eyes and sheds its skin. So whichever Marvel or DC character does that is probably whatever they are parodying. Though that superhero who could split himself into multiples looked more like something from The Thing than any comic.

Almost every single person captured on this show escapes. Frenchie, Hughie, and MM escape in the first season. Kimiko escapes from the noodle restaurant. Kimiko's brother escapes and throws the boat anchor at a helicopter. Maeve escapes from the Vought armored car. Soldier Boy escapes from Russia (with help). Sam escapes from the Woods in Gen V. Stan Edgar is freed from prison. Frenchie is freed from prison. There are probably more examples.

You think Starlight gets rescued or escapes or that she dies captive? Should be obvious to predict.

Compound V is another 'vaccines are bad' allegory as well. These writers try to write liberal values as positive but fail. And right wing values as negative but also fail. They tried the same thing on the show The Shield where the main character had two autistic children and blamed it on vaccines but then had his nurse wife also have the same sentiment.
 
Another thing that hasn't really come up this season is Homelander being a human lie detector. He should have known that Cameron Coleman was telling the truth about not being the leak. Again, this could be explained by his hearing being damaged. But if that was a deliberate plot choice it probably would have been acknowledged in the show by now. I think the writers just forgot.
 
Something I dont get is why the niggamind bitch makes snarky remarks about "racism in America" when she's litteraly helping super hitler with a planetary ethnic cleasing. "I MAY BE HELPING WITH THE GENOCIDE OF ALL NORMAL PEOPLE...BUT AT LEAST I'M NOT BEING RACIST!!!"

You think this show seems like it was planned out? Some of the episodes barely seems connected to the next one. For example, they just forgot that Hughie's father murdered a dozen people in a hospital. His body was covered in blood and no autopsy was even performed. "Yeah this blood covered person is loaded with Compound V, and his ID says he is the father of the dude who dated Starlight and used to work for the Vice President elect".

Deep is shocked that A-Train was the leak last episode. But he knows that A-Train leaked all of the data on Stormfront to the media. And Deep himself is the person who leaked Homelander taking down two separate planes. It's like the writers have the memories of goldfish or mental patients.
 
So we got them setting up a conservative political figure to be assassinated next episode. Very topical! I look forward to even more squirming to avoid confronting their now retardedly radical political bent. They even had an Antifa reference this week. Better not try any reshoots!
