You'd think Homelander avoids sex&drugs parties due to having super smell and hearing. This angle is never explored in superheroes. I know I would kill everyone there just to shut them the fuck up.

This was explored in the movie series Scanners. Or the manga and anime film Akira. Where the people with psychic powers couldn't control or mute the thoughts of others and it drove them to isolation or using experimental drugs. This was a plot with Cate in Gen V as well.

The super hearing of these superheroes is just another aspect of capeshit worlds where the powers are convenient for the plot. Ryan loses his mind at the Vought restaurant. Then later is in front of massive crowds and fine. Godolkin security guards have superhero disabling sound devices. Yet the CIA and the Boys don't bother carrying those noise machines around with them. Homelander can hear someone tap a cell phone in their pocket but can't hear a gunshot coming from the next room nor A-Train breaking the sound barrier during Tek Knight's party.

Kripke and company could easily be replaced by AI writing programs since they are totally unoriginal. "Batman is a fascist who brutalizes poor people" is the most terminally online Reddit/Twitter take ever made at this point "if Batman spent billions on building affordable housing I'm sure the Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Black Mask, Two-Face, the Mad Hatter, etc. would stop committing crimes."

If they wanted grimdark Batman they could make him a cripple in a wheelchair due to trying to play hero for one night and who's the secret head of Vough-like organized crime organisation after he realized he could keep the worst criminals on a leash by making them dependent on him and deploying them outside Gotham.

Found this funny comment chain under a youtube video about A Train dying at the end of the season (which isn't gonna happen).
Atrain should have died at the end season 3, the universe legitimately wanted him to die at season 3. Literally, just look at the list:

*Vanity and arrogance makes atrain unable to accept that he's growing old. Takes steroids and gives himself heart disease because of it.

* Wants to be the center of attention but can't run so he ends up getting his own brother crippled because all of a sudden he decided to pretend to give a shit about black communities.

* His brother got fucked up by a supe on accident, just like he fucked up robin on accident, getting a taste of his own medicine.

* He's forced to eat humble pie by being told out from ashley for the massive retard he is and how when he kills people left and right he doesn't care and even uses vought to shield himself, but when someone he loves is injured suddently its a big fucking deal and he demands "justice".

* He grows just enough to understand how fucked up what he did was and apologizes to huey.

* But at the end of the day his arrogance is still too great, and he can't stand the idea of NOT getting revenge (unlike huey that chose to forgive him MULTIPLE times he refuses to extend the same courtesy to bluehawk), ends up killing himself getting revenge for an injury his arrogance/vanity is responsible for, and from the heart disease he gave himself due to his ego, despite he himself being forgiven for causing a worse injury multiple times.

It is literally a perfect tragically ironic death of a man who through a combination of luck and arrogance, killed himself in the name of ego.

But no. He gets his revenge, he survives, and even cures his heart disease ontop it. The plotline about him growing old? Gone. Neither he nor homelander give a shit anymore.

The show has been going downhill since season 2, but the real deathknell was the finale of season 3. Between the cuck scene with butcher outing himself, maeve surviving, atrain coming back to life, homelander still being alive, homelander being injured by a metal fucking straw and soldier boy somehow being caged up, that's the part where they officially jumped the shark imo and anyone still genuinely invested in the outcome of the show is a retard.

One thing I noticed, as other people have said, is that season 5 of this show is shaping up to be like a 2020s edgy version of the comics. Homelander leading a superhero army to take over the government, Butcher trapping a scientist to create a virus that kills supes, etc etc. I think Kripke wanted the show go on for several more seasons, but Amazon told him to pound sand and that he only gets one more season after this, so hes lifting everything he can fit into the show from the comics to bring it to a conclusion. Ironically, if Kripke wasn't the showrunner and people who actually cared about telling a good story were still in charge, this show could've lasted for 10 seasons. Ennis should've had some creative involvement after season 1, he actually liked what they were doing with his characters and saw the potential to improve on his original work.

Ue in season 1 episode 5: Tells Ezekiel to "Stop with all the pray the gay away shit" or he'll expose his club activity and ruin his career.

Ue in season 4 episode 6: Prays that the gay man he's currently being bound and molested by will stay away from his ass.

Its like poetry, it rhymes.

I haven’t seen Gen V or the latest Boys episode...so Kripke ruined Tek Knight? In the comic he was more of a tragic figure than anything, and an Ambiguously Gay Duo joke. He wasn’t a supe, and Butcher said he‘d done nothing bad & was so milquetoast they could never find anything to blackmail him with. In the comic he develops an undiagnosed brain tumor that compels him to fuck holes. Even his death is tragic & pointless, as he goes on a suicide mission to destroy an asteroid hurtling toward earth by fucking a fissure in it, which turns out to be a dream in his hospice bed. Only season of the show that‘s better than the comic is Season 1.

So I watched an "EFAP Highlight Clip" of them covering the latest controversial episode of The Boys. I haven't seen the episode, so the EFAP highlight pretty much informed me of the details of what happens.

I think MauLer's response to Garth Ennis' and the showrunners' comments sum it up best:

Ennis: "Who hasn't thought that the Batcave was Batman's weird sex dungeon where he gets off on torturing people?!"

MauLer: "Literally everyone but you. Stop projecting, you weirdo degenerates."

(I'm paraphrasing, but this is the gist of what was said on EFAP and I couldn't agree more.)

The only time Batman has been remotely fascist is when written by Frank Miller and even then I don't think Batman being a bit more approving of authoritarian measures is specifically fascist.

I haven't read Miller's later works, but he makes fun of the idea of a fascist Batman in The Dark Knight Returns. I don't mean he depicts it in a satirical fashion, I mean it's an opinion held by fools like Wolper. Miller's Batman is indifferent at best toward the state and holds absolutely no opinion on race, his only remaining super-friend is uber-liberal Ollie, he funds Harvey Dent's rehabilitation and sympathizes even after he relapses, he refuses to commit murder (he maybe kills an armed hostage-taker), and when he accidentally gets his own paramilitary street gang, he forbids the use of violence and turns them into a community emergency response team/Boy Scout troop.

Miller's Superman is a little bit fascist. Says yes to anyone with a flag or a badge. Acts as the President's personal military despite not being in the armed forces. Thinks everything would be easier if we all just did what the government told us to do. Kills lots and lots of commies.

But we don't have to look for crypto-fascists in Miller's work. He gave us Bruno. That's his statement on fascism. It's a costume worn by bullies and thieves, an aesthetic for selfish violence with no more intrinsic meaning than the stylings of the Mutants. Batman and Superman may be violent, but they aren't selfish.

So, The Boys. I missed the last episode and I think I'll sit out the rest. I actually liked Season 3; I thought it was funny and enjoyed several of the performances. This season has been just dire.

A lot of people suddenly figured out Kripke is a hack and all it took was calling Batman a fascist and depicting a guy getting gay-raped in a sex dungeon. Never a fan of the show but even I can tell the latest season marks a steep decline in quality, as well as a failure to remain thematically consistent, problems which affect a lot of television series these days, especially streaming service fodder that gets more than one season.

Why does every show now have the writers just give up on the last series or two? It’s like they think, “why have we put all this effort in? The audience are retards anyway. Let’s just wing it from now on.”

My personal theory is that people knew it was trash, but they couldn’t be seen agreeing with the chuds, so they had to choke it down with a smile.

Now they found an exit ramp that allows them to trash it, while appearing moral and different for doing so.
