Zach Snyder's Watchmen adaptation is (the full cut with the black freighter) about as close you can get to a perfect live action watchmen adaptation as physically possible.

The only criticism of it is that 3 and a half hours weren't enough time, but even then he managed to pull across 90% of the plot and story intact. When it comes to faithful book -> movie adaptations its second probably to only lord of the rings.

Plus Malin Akerman has great tits AND WE GOT TO SEE THEM.

In season 2, when stormfront first meets ryan she asks him if he watches pewdiepie. An innocuous thing to ask a little kid, except later we learn that stormfront is a nazi so it takes on a double meaning on a rewatch. Its a subtle and makes you go "oh lol that's why she asked" in hindsight when you realize it.

In GenV, one of the characters says she has a youtube channel, and describes it "Like pewdiepie, except without the nazi stuff."

Even excluding the fact that they reused the same "joke", this is not subtle or clever. This is just the writer screeching at the audience that he thinks pewdiepie is a nazi and they should too.

Literally the same joke, except one version has a setup, and a payoff, and one version is just a hammer beating the audience over the head so the writer can get across his petty vendetta.

People will tolerate and admire propaganda even if its against them if its well writen. This is the difference between a good writer and a bad writer. This is why we still study triumph of the will and birth of a nation.

This is a terrible example. Her name is Stormfront. It's beyond obvious she is a Nazi. Her outfit has SS lightning bolts. She has a half skinhead hairdo. I have no idea who pewdiepie is so that was lost on me so I just figured it was a kid's show. But the other Nazi references were incredibly lazy and right in your face.

The superhero names are meant to be lazy and direct. Deep for a diver. Homelander like 'homeland security'. Noir like 'black noir'. Homelander's suit actually has some subtle Nazi imagery like the gold eagles that at first look American but are actually from German uniforms. That was subtle.

The payoff is in the scene. Vought is a Nazi founded company. The zoomer and young crowd hate Nazis. They hate that Nazis injected them with drugs to turn them into superheroes. Them ripping on Nazis is showing that Vought has lost control over their own product and company.

These shows are terrible but some of the writing is actually good.

I admit I enjoy the show, but the shit with the Tek Knight cave was utter degenerate horseshit and felt really tone deaf. Like this was clearly uncomfortable to watch, I really don't understand the humor in what was happening, felt too demeaning and gross to get a laugh especially with what happened to Hughie in the previous episode. It just feels unnecessarily mean spirited, and I kind of feel bad for Hughie's actor, like he wanted to do an espionage thing, but was forced to do weird BDSM.

Next scene he's a degenerate and prison magnate. One scene Starlight is murdering a guy for his car keys. Next scene she's written as being sympathetic for having an abortion (which didn't work).

There is no continuity. They will be ruining Butcher's character in the next two episodes as well even further.

In BTAS he outright gave a dude who he interrogated for information (in front of the dude's kid, no less) a job because he realized he was a decent dude in a shitty situation.

The only time Batman has been remotely fascist is when written by Frank Miller and even then I don't think Batman being a bit more approving of authoritarian measures is specifically fascist.
And yeah, he does beat up poor people because when he shows up to stop them from committing a fucking crime they for some reason decide it's a great idea to try and jump a guy who even hardened supervillains are afraid of, a guy who routinely beats the shit out of gangs of people who tried this exact thing before.

The people who made the first season didn't make the rest of them though. George Mastras and Anne Saunders were the executive producers of the first season. They were both basically fired, by being forced out, so that Kripke and Seth Rogen could take control over the show and essentially reboot it as some political satire instead of a superhero parody story.
