This always struck me as one of those shows that could have been really really good if it was written prior to 2016. The election of Donald Trump completely broke the minds of those on the more lefty side of the isle and they've been utterly deranged gibbering morons ever since.

Well which is sad because in the comics Hughie was a lot more nuanced character who could kick ass with the rest of the Boys being disgusted with both the perversions of Supers along with the depravity of Butcher.
Hughie in the comics is just Butcher if he took "the right path", one of the reasons why Butcher asks Hughie to kill him in the end. That's partially the point of his character arc and his character in Dear Annie. That's the nuance. I don't know about the show, haven't seen it.

Not really a big fan of the comics, it's been quite a but since I've read them. But for all the flaws, its earnest, and it has soul. The show is full of irony poisoned hipsters trying to substitute soul with violence and gross sexual shit.

There was the “hey guys, look at us laugh at performative celebrities!” Than have Patton Oswalt as an unironic cameo.

Deep is more resilient than any superhero. He can swim in the Mariana Trench and survive the pressure. But he also collapses if you punch him in the gills. It's like how Neumann can survive acid and a point blank gunshot wound but can cut her skin with a pocket knife. Or Homelander can have his eardrums exposed to extreme heat or cold but a metal rod can cause him damage. There is no consistency nor any actual power level lore. It's just whatever is convenient for the plot in any given episode.

Soldier Boy (as well as Stormfront) could probably kill him. A popular prediction for the show ending is that Soldier Boy depowers both Homelander and Butcher and they fight without powers to the death. Which might also remove Butcher's tumors.
At least the comics had it established that Superheroes (well the specific Superheroes who are normally bulletproof to small arms and small explosions) are vulnerable to depleted uranium as a 'hard weakness'. A lot more consistent than whatever the show is trying to have. It's why when the Superheroes broke off from Vought in the comics and assaulted the White House the Army and Airforce just rolled up some Abrams and A-10s loaded up on DU and shredded them.

I'm so tired of the cynical and irony poisoned tv show archetype. It was already pretty tired and played out when Bojangles Hoarseman did it and now it's really annoying an insufferable.

I really hope this trend dies but I don't think it will because zoomers are even more cynical than millennials somehow.

The source material is from Garth Ennis. Calling him a one-trick pony is spotting him half a trick.

Obama's first term gave us a similar problem. In that all race related plotlines became leftist fantasies. And no one who was a racist character could say things like 'nigger' anymore. It had to be acceptable language like 'darkie' or 'black bastard'. Shows like South Park basically lost their minds after Obama was elected and never recovered.
Never seen this show but the casting of S1 immediately told me what kind of show this will be. I really love Butcher, hes one of my favourite comic book characters and hes a much more nuanced character than what Karl Urban can imagine playing which is pretty good indication to me which direction they want to take things.
Urban literally cannot keep his accent straight from scene to scene. The majority of the fans legitimately thought that his character was Australian the first season because his accent and acting were abysmal. They hired a kid to portray his little brother a few seasons later who did an even worse English accent. Urban's acting is nothing but him just breaking the fourth wall over and over so reddit can post another video of Butcher saying "hey cunts!" into the camera.

Butcher's actor being so weak, Hughie as well, is another reason why Homelander became so popular.

Im sure there will be the Butcher and Homelander are two sides of the same coin dichotomy and the commie garbage about how Hughie the soyjak is peak masculinity.

I thought they were going to do a "Hughie is mad his GF got a secret abortion bit" but of course they had him literally say "IT WAS YOUR RIGHT TO CHOOSE."

Seriously, did a bus hit her or something?

She looks sick in the latest episode. Like her skin is weirdly splotchy and it was super distracting every time they did a closeup of her. I'm not sure if it's a shitty fake tan or what. It's like she's dappled.

Don't worry. Gen Alpha will save us.

Being raised on Kai Cenat streams, Skibidi Toilet, JJK Sigma Male edits, Gacha Heat vids, and Nazi Roblox RP sessions will save television and kino.

Finna bussin' on that GYATT rizz from Ohio fr fr on God LET HIM COOK double pump with the fanum tax. 👏

One thing that needs to be answered is on whose side is Victoria on? She's obviously not on the same team as the Boys, especially since they wasted the intro of the first episode of this season trying to off her, and the President-to-be hates her even more than Homelander, but her freeing Gus Fring/Stan Edgar means that she's not on Homelander's side either, since Homelander convinced her to testify against Stan and put him in prison back then for a dose of Compound V. Is Neuman just going to be some kind of third faction?

Isn't she is supposed to be an AOC expy? So they're probably trying to rehabilitate her as probably a good guy since it's election year now.

It wouldn't surprise me if she has had some work done. She looks older and I immediately noticed she has trouble speaking, or at least articulating her words in the same manner as previous seasons.
