V was made public. It was not legalized. And superheroes being in the military was also put on hold. Robert Singer expressly says that twice on the show. In this season he made it clear that superheroes were entertainers and will be stripped of police powers as well. Meaning no more people like Blue Hawk curb stomping unruly thugs.
The formula is not public. Just its existence. Russia likely tried to make Compound V from their Soldier Boy experiments but ended up giving him the ability to fry V out of superheroes. Only Vought's scientists can make V and Temp V. They have the formula and no one else. The haji terrorists who made 'Captain' were given V by Homelander. Same with Kimiko and Shining Light being given V by A-Train and Homelander to make super terrorists. They didn't synthesize the V themselves they just got a dose from Homelander. If they could make V they would have a giant army.
Ashley flat out said that Homelander suspended the use and manufacturing of V since taking over Vought. So no more superheroes until Homelander has recruited trustworthy scientists.
I'm still surprised the Feds aren't trying to synthesize their own version and giving it to professional soldiers who aren't Supes. Especially since they did get a stockpile of V after ordering it back when Singer was the Secretary of Defense and Stan was at the head of Vought. The Pentagon ordered their stockpile, ICE ordered their stockpile, the first-responders ordered their stockpile, and so on. We do know that the FDA knows about it, which is why Stan Edgar fucking hates Homelander. In their conversation, Stan talked about how their confidential formula for Compound V was released into the wild by Homelander. And if the Feds have it, they can sure as shit study it, as well as ask Vought/Stan for the formula, since they were using it themselves.
All of this happened long before Homelander became the head of Vought. Back when the good guys still thought Neuman was on their side, because they didn't know she was the head-popper, and Stan was making his move to slowly replace Homelander with Starlight, because he thought Homelander was bad product, but Starlight got their poll numbers back up after they got hit with controversy.
Singer not ordering massive levels of Temp V and trying to kill Homelander is a plot hole. He could have taken over Vought in one day and likely with the help of Stan Edgar. Temp V basically made Butcher and Hughie on similar levels as Homelander and Soldier Boy. Imagine 50 trained Green Berets under Temp V taking down Homelander with ease and finally ending Vought.
To be fair to the show, Temp V was not released publicly, it was still in its testing stages when Homelander took over. Stan described it as ''still ironing out the kinks''. At most, Maeve stole some samples from the lab to give to Hughie and Butcher. So unlike the blue stuff, which already got past the testing phase and was officially purchased by the government in large quantities, there was no time to mass-produce the green Temp V juice and hand it all out to soldiers, even though that was Stan's plan. They were still trying to get Congress to approve of it while still ironing out the issues with it before Homelander took over, and Homelander most likely canceled its production.
And again it had zero consequences. He just goes on trial for killing one person who 'attacked' his kid. Days after being found not guilty he's wiping out ice skaters like it's nothing in front of scores of witnesses. No followup scene no mention of it ever again. Like it never happened. More proof that each episode is written by different people and they just lazily piece them together without bothering with continuity.
I think I remember something about them saying it was an accident to cover up Homelander's mistake. They couldn't do that with the Starlighter that Homelander lasered in front of a crowd because there were too many witnesses.
It made sense when people forgave superhero collateral damage because they thought that these people were demigods. Now that they know that they are lab freaks the lawsuits and calls for jail should be nonstop.
That always bothered me, how Vought claimed that the Supes came from God and people just bought it. It's obviously a jab at religious people, especially white Christians, but in reality, most churches would be doing their own snooping around and won't just buy such a line so easily. Especially when it comes from a secular company, not a religious organization. So when Vought says that the Supes' powers come from God, most religious groups will be asking ''whose God?''
Sure, some fringe religious groups might buy into Vought's propaganda, but the more mainstream churches won't get fooled. Prepare to have the Vatican as well as other religious groups sending inspectors to snoop around to verify that these superheroes did indeed come from the Almighty and not some lab experiment. And once they put the superheroes through some medical tests and detect some strange new compound pumping through their veins, Vought's story of the superheroes' powers coming from God would fall flat.
Homelander’s redemption tour is going great, he did nothing wrong.
I honestly don't get what they want to do with Homelander. Clearly they want you to hate him but then they pull out the "he was experimented on since birth" card and you can't help but feel bad for the guy. Especially him talking to that one vought woman and her bringing up that the scientist were just following orders, made me just wonder if they actually pull a holocaust angel for his backstory.
Leave it to a Jewish screenwriter to make a Holocaust reference here. Homelander is practically a survivor of Holocaust experiment a la Josef Mengele. Or I suppose Unit 731. Homelander's revenge is basically what happens if a Holocaust camp survivor starts sticking the Waffen-SS guards of his camp into the gas chambers. Especially with that one guy he stuck in the oven. If they wanted people to stop sympathizing with him, they failed really fucking hard.
Really funny how the Js keep trying to sell to the cattle an idea that the right calls the shots. I skipped all the jewfag scenes and the Starlight scenes. Butcher got some points back for killing a gay guy and Hughie should get with Kimiko, because that’s a biological woman as opposed to the wendigo spirit that took hold of Starlight.
Normally, I'd say that Frenchie might object, but he's gay now, so he'd more than likely be happy with Hughie and Kimiko shacking up.
