The entire point of the comic's ending was that the military could stomp out supes if they ever became a real threat, just chose not to because it was convenient. I think they revealed Vought also had a private army that could've done the same towards the end too.

Billy basically does 90% of the work in the final fight with a normal anti-aircraft gun. They weren't even special anti-supe missiles or whatever, the military just needed to deploy A-10's with heat-seekers on domestic soil which is like, a bad vibe man.
It was much better for them to just give some random CIA Niggers V and let them go about their business than it was to actually go after said supes head-on, and said supes were easily dispatched when it came time for Actual War which was some kinda commentary on how good 'ol fashioned Air Superiority and Boots on the Ground is way better than shiny tech that flounders the second it sees combat. Homelander basically was the strongest supe and he got oneshotted by a clone of himself, and the clone got oneshotted by Billy and the military.

Finally, he really drove home that Billy was an unhinged weirdo by having him teamkill right before the virus-release. He really was just a corrupt, roided-out version of The Punisher. All Supes Bad.

The show did none of that and just had them fist-fight in the white house and had Homelander get bitched and piss himself and offer to blow Billy. I don't wanna see faggot youtubers saying the comics have bad writing because they're edgy and The Boys wear trenchcoats and homelander says Nigger ever again.
Because of the marketing and all this "is homelander gonna snap for real" discourse I figured the show would actually go nuclear in a twist ending and have him BTFO the military somehow, making Billy's Kill All Supes virus actually necessary. But no, they just did the comic ending with a side of TDS and jewish humiliation-and-poop fetish bullshit.

This whole thing just feels so stupid to me because if this show had added a third faction in season three to keep the plot from sagging and had treated the Seven like victims of the evil corporation as much as everyone else then this show could have done and said some things that were truly timeless and would have stuck with people.

Instead of a timeless tragic tale of would be heroes we got "Orange man bad" for the 5000th time in a decade.

People are really getting some mileage out of the finale lol

It's a good meme, very reminiscent of this classic from another piece of media that decided to go full retard to own da chuds.

I didn't watch season 5 yet. Not sure I ever will, but my problem for most of the series is they don't kill supes.

The whole setup is for them to kill supes. I watched the first episodes and it was fun, I couldn't wait to know how Frenchie and Huey would come up with some tech based plan to isolate and kill a supe countering his powers, and for Butcher to mercilessly act it and dispose of them.

Nothing of the sort happened. The main supes are given plot armor instead of being villains of the week. Every conflict is between supes and Butcher is just a bystander/side character for most of it while the other boys just pathetically cry about their own shit removed from the plot. Huey being the most insufferable one and Frenchie the most irrelevant one. Annie was likeable in season 1 then just became Lisa Simpson.

The problem is that the cape shit satire doesn't work when the writers themselves like the supes way more than the normal guys. So the show just becomes supes vs supes because they can't be bothered thinking of a story where smarts overcome strong. So they become the marvel shit they want to mock with some gore and gay porn scattered around.

I think I said this earlier in the thread, but if not: Season 5 is what Season 4 should have been. It all feels like setup, even if it's the meandering kind. Imagine if the hypothetical final season started with Homelander getting capped? You'd have a civil war with pro and anti-vought supes duking it out. It might not be the best ending, but it'd be infinitely more entertaining.

Or they could have just directly adapted the fuckin’ books. Genuinely missed an opportunity to create context and depth for both Homelander and Butcher and have a real ‘Red Wedding’ moment that’d have the normies talking for years.
Them unmasking Black Noir and replacing him was their worst mistake.

They should've kept the Black Noir twist from the comics; at least that made it so that it made perfect sense as to why Stan Edgar had the stones to stand up to Homelander. Because he'd have a contingency within the team that could neutralize Homie 5 seconds flat if John was stupid enough to attack him.

The entire point of the comic's ending was that the military could stomp out supes if they ever became a real threat, just chose not to because it was convenient. I think they revealed Vought also had a private army that could've done the same towards the end too.
The V1 plot line should've made it so that Homelander could tank an assault from the military; Sister Sage even said that it was ten times stronger than the regular V that Homelander started out with.

(Ten times stronger my ass; Homelander was weaker in the final fight than he was at Herogasm.)

Soldier Boy should've remained in CIA custody, then released by the government when the military assault failed. Then have him attack Homelander and die fighting, but not before he gets to fire off his chest ki blast that depowers Homelander. Then you can have Butcher kick the shit out of him, but Starlight stops Butcher because she wants Homelander to be dragged out and put to trial, so the world can see that they no longer need to fear him.

Wanting to die instead of being humiliated, Homelander insults Butcher using Becca's name, calling him a sad sack bitch who can't even avenge his wife, and Homelander would even tell Butcher that if he could do what he did to Becca again, he'd do it. This triggers Butcher enough to swat Starlight aside and kill Homelander with a crowbar. Homelander dies with a smile, having the satisfaction of going out the way he wanted to, as opposed to being a captive of a world that he hates, the world that experimented on him and tried to control him.

Non watcher's perspective:

I have never seen a full episode of the boys. My roommates were watching the first season when it came out so I had background glimpses at it but don't remember much, i saw all of the memes and some various youtube clips and have followed the various controversies though.

The blatantly obvious wokeshit was evident to me from the very start, homelander = white 50s america, starlight = christianity, soldier boy = ???? hmm mwho knows. Almost died of cringe when I heard there was literally a character called "stormfront".

Anyways I always assumed homelander was a spoiled rich kid who combined with his powers had everything handed to him in life, implying that everyone from chad to little timmy is destined to become a mass shooter. Seeing that death scene I figured this was literally the first time he had ever experienced vulnerability or fear of any kind and they were making some gay statement on white America blah blah blah.

Last night I went through a brief youtube recommendation rabbit hole about his past and from what I gather that's not remotely the case. He was psychologically manipulated from the day he was born, tortured, burned alive, sexually degraded, repressed, kept in solitary confinement, accidently killed people with his strength, and was literally programmed to be emotionally dependent on making people happy. There also seems to be a bit of complexity to his moral structure.

So given all that what exactly is it that they're trying to say in the context of "this guy represents America" shit? It doesn't really fit with the woke narrative that if you're white you've been on easy mode you're entire life. This guy has had a worse life than any other character I can think of. If anything that message seems to be a warning against black/tranny/muslim victimhood mentality... "sometimes people who have had horrible circumstances turn out to be complete monsters and even though it isn't their fault they still need a crowbar in the head".

Him begging to suck dick doesn't really seem to fit with what I've learned either, the way the one bitch explained it is that he refused to physically break out of his torture sessions even though he could, all because he was psychologically obsessed with not upsetting people. He would rather suffer agonizing torment than lose his dignity... that doesn't fit the profile of somebody who would beg when it's all over.

Again I haven't seen the show and I'm not going to but as usual the one everybody wants me to hate is the only character I'm interested in whatsoever. The main character comes across as some typical "hhngnngg gruhhh i'm a rough tough bearded man who cusses" bullshit and I hate gus fring's actor with a passion at this point.

Maybe I'm lacking crucial context but I figured you guys might like the perspective of somebody who has no idea what is going on: Homelander does not come across as pure evil, at worst he's tragic evil which most normies tend to sympathize with, so the creator's (who seems like a massive winner btw) claim that everyone who didn't like the ending is a chud is retarded.

So are we actually gonna see Soldier Boy kicking ass and taking names in World War II or is that just gonna be a gay noir-flavored 1950s drama?
They don't have the budget for a giant scale WWII battle. Vought Rising is a murder mystery. And also a prequel about the creation of Compound V. The likely twist will be that Soldier Boy or someone from the government kills Frederick Vought.
