Did she? Her facial paralysis is so complete that I genuinely couldn't tell you what Boglight was feeling in any given scene.shocked
That's what the whole series after season 1 is.How the fuck do you justify using a minute of your show’s series finale just so you can go FUUUCK U LOL to someone you don’t like?
"He bigotedly bigoted all over the place. Bigoting the bigot with his bigoted powers of bigotry.""Homelander attempted to bigotedly enter the oval office to commit additional racisms but sadly his tiny orange hands and even tinier penis made him too weak to open the door."
"Brilliant! Here's 100 million to make more shitty content! ~ Amazon probably
If they wanted to dunk on Trump so badly, they could've just had a Trump-expy being backed by Soldier Boy and Homelander because he's the main conservative candidate and Vought's link to the Evangelical Conservative movement. But then have the guy be such an insufferable cunt that Soldier Boy and Homelander rip him to shreds. You can even have Homelander take over that way; have him come to power as the guy who "brought sanity back to America" after killing Not!Trump.Anthony Star is a great fucking actor who atleast kept his professionalism during it and calling the writing team out for making his character a stand in for trump.
Its like everyone in hollywood wants to become the next "Revolutionary" story against the bad man in politics, but jesus fucking christ.
The IP is pretty much going to get fucked after this. Who's going to tune in to Vought Rising with the IP having this kind of shitty reputation?Hope it was worth ruining your career over Kirpke.
Man of Steel Superman did it better. When Superman and Zod had that fight of theirs, buildings and entire city blocks were getting decimated, thousands of people died. That is how you write a fight scene with an unhinged supe that could destroy entire cities. The ending is probably the most abysmal one I have seen for a show.
This season was incredibly wasteful . They threw away the Soldier Boy and the Gen V girls plotlines for nothing. The ending was obviously supposed to be Soldier Boy and Marie showing up and yoinking Homelander's powers, but instead it was the complete out-of-nowhere bullshit that we got so their shit prequel series could be setup.Feels like the show could've run for more than 5 seasons, the ending feels rushed as hell, with so many character arcs feeling rushed. All this hype for a fight that didn't even last for 5 minutes.
Homelander's Supe army is parked outside the White House, engaging the military. While this happens, the Boys, Soldier Boy, and Marie go to the White House. The Boys kill a few Supes standing guard, while Marie and Soldier Boy proceed to Homelander's location in the Oval Office. This season was incredibly wasteful . Weirdly enough, the most racist quotes I can recall from Punisher Max were about European Ethnic groups.Ennis would make him a raving lunatic and nothing else. A character with actual depth and legitimate flaws that don't serve to make them more of a brooding anti-hero is vastly out of his reach. We've gone over his writing and fake tough guy armyfag shit before. The idea of someone who is legitimately fucked doing the right thing is alien to him who envisions people who are superficially fucked doing the wrong thing because it can be rationalized as the right thing through sheer contrivance.
I'll still hold to Stillwell despite Ennis ruining him in the unnecessary cash grab sequel.
This worked more because it was the Punisher than it was Ennis writing him. Family man who lost everything to gang violence has a zero tolerance policy towards crime. Impossible to fuck this up if you actually, you know, let him be that instead of whatever the fuck nonsense they're trying to pull now because muh "problematic."
I stopped watching after the end of Gen V season 1.The first season was alright. I struggle to say good because on rewatch I lose interest around the Christian festival or whatever. The second was when the cracks really began to show. And then the third was just dogshit. Barely anything of actual consequence. Also, the magic of blackmail. Just stopped watching after that. Let everyone else experience 4 in my place besides watching clips on youtube. Now 5.
People are and always will be way too hard on the comics. The darkly comedic writing style definitely features a gratuitous focus on sex, but that's quite typical among a certain genre of UK comedy I and many others grew up with (Looking at you, inbetweeners). I imagine it's far better received by people who are more thoroughly acquainted with that cultural context. As for the absurd and caricatured backstories... it's a superhero comic whose intention is to satirize the genre. MM's history reads exactly like that: a brother whose head grew so fast it was crushed by the football helmet he was wearing? A baby that lasers its way out of a woman's womb? The objective was to take the piss out of the archetypal "superhero backstory", wherein the protagonist's childhood is marred by extraordinary talents/biomarkers that strike fear and wonder into the hearts of their peers. It's a bit juvenile but, for what it is, it's fairly decent.Hard disagree.
They all think their story will be the one that exposes to the masses that Trump is actually a bad guy really and sway opinion but the problem is they do it in a way that makes their side look like histrionic queers. Which, admittedly many of them are but I'm speaking in the proverbial sense. Its like everyone in hollywood wants to become the next "Revolutionary" story against the bad man in politics, but jesus fucking christ.

They did to Elon Musk what they should've done to Trump. If they were going to have a Trump parody in the first place, have it be someone else, then get him out of the way once the real fighting starts. Let Homelander be his own character, his own villain, with his own motivations.20 min in and they do a HAHAHAHA LOOK IT'S ELON MUSK BEING A WHITE SUPREMESIST joke.
*seal clap*
Their version of Trump was a poor kid who was brainwashed and experimented upon by a big pharma corporation to turn him into a monster they can make toys out of. And yet that corporation gets to walk away free, no litigation, no limits, no forcing them to hand over all stockpiles of V to the Federal Government, no show trials for the Vought Executives who approved of all the evil shit they did. They all think their story will be the one that exposes to the masses that Trump is actually a bad guy really and sway opinion but the problem is they do it in a way that makes their side look like histrionic queers. Kripke probably made his money and certainly doesn't care he ran it into the ground over the idea of people he doesn't like liking his show. Not his money he burned to do it.
Stan Edgar approved of the operation to replace Soldier Boy with Homelander.I have been saying this since Season 3, when Homelander was taking the brunt of the blame for Stormfront, as if ANYONE at Vought (those shareholders that Edgar made a point about pleasing to Homelander) had no beef with Edgar about hiring her in the first fucking place.
Homelander didn't advocate for her being in The Seven. Edgar did.
Someone in this thread called this show "mean-spirited", and I don't really think there's a better way of putting it.
As for me, I was just playing Marvel Cosmic Invasion. A superhero story not written by concussed orangutans. Funny how a superhero story that plays it straight is so much better than modern "deconstructions" of the genre. It makes me want to bathe myself in the glow of the LOTR extended versions to wash the stink off.
The only real hero supes were the special ed team.If I remember the comics right, there were Supes that wanted to genuinely do good but were way out of their depth when it came to actually doing so and caused more damage than they intended.
But that's a level of nuance that Kripke was never interested in pursuing because I feel like he has a bigger hateboner for capeshit than even Garth Ennis does.
I will admit I don't understand. I'm just retarded yoh honoh! The thing that a lot of people miss in the comics is that everything happens for a reason, and those reasons are often not revealed until very late in the story. You should never pay any attention to the comics’ critiques by anyone who didn’t read the whole run, preferably twice. Be especially wary of people who dismiss the comics as edgy slop, they’re just proving they either didn’t read them or don’t understand them.
