I would imagine the season will end with the Boys and Homelander killing Stormfront.

He won't want to be replaced as leader of the 7 and he'll want to keep Butcher around to continue to fuck with him psychologically.

Apparently the power of horny is stronger than hatred of Nazis.

What the fuck does “described herself as” mean? Is she Jewish or not?
Probably distant blood relation to jews, but doesn't believe in the religion or have any connection to the culture. However, still receives the benefits of claiming to be one of them. It's the "free rider" approach to ethnic identification.

Her father's family is Jewish.

The 'identifies' part could be either because well, obviously, she could have chosen her Catholic heritage, or because in hardcore Judaism the ethnic identity is only recognised as descending matrilineally.

A Jewish ex-girlfriend of mine had a mother who was Christian and Danish who had to convert to Judaism to marry my ex's Jewish father, but even this wasn't enough for many in the Jewish community - the father lost some kind of prestigious inherited position because of marrying a shiksa. Not quite the same thing as the matrilineal bit, but does support the former explanation (particularly if the father didn't convert - perhaps he was uncircumcised and wanted his tackle to remain unmolested).

Maaan the interactions between the protagonists in that episode draaaaaagged. The villains (Homelander in particular - Anthony Starr is great) are much more enthralling.

Her father could be Jewish but not her mother. For the Jews, if your mother's not Jewish then you're just a goy.

Why is The Deep even still in this?? 99% His scenes are fucking boring & unfunny. I'm not even watching his scenes anymore. The annoying adventures of a pathetic fish Superloser are uneccessary.

Also (this is not a critique) for me who only speaks english as a second language it's really hard to understand Frenchies mumbling. Often I have to listen to it several times to get what he means.

I watched the first half of Season 1 of this show and it was good in many ways. The actor playing Homelander especially was good. But there was something about this show I couldn't quite put my finger on that I found unpleasant. I couldn't quite say what it was but it just felt off somehow. I quit after the episode where Starlight goes to the religious festival.

Butcher's wife actually being raped destroys so much ambiguity. Butcher being psychotic and right makes his arc fall flat, IMO.

In the comics (MASSIVE SPOILERS) The Boys are all dosed with compound V to fight the supes. I know the show won't have them having powers except the female. But it turns out that compound V was getting out into the wild and mass altering the human gene pool. In the comics, Butcher's wife was raped by a clone of Homelander and killed by her child. Butcher then has to beat it to death with a lamp. Its pretty graphic and makes him pretty unstable and isn't really played for laughs. She wasn't actually raped by Homelander himself, but by Black Noir who is a psychotic clone of Homelander. But this isn't the case in the show.

You do get the feeling he's always going to do something horrible and that's eventually what happens. Butcher himself cannot stand compound V and basically makes a super-weapon that will kill anything with a bit of compound V in it, including a ton of innocent people that just happen to be exposed to it by accident.

The Boys find this out and Butcher basically betrays them, killing all of them. Hughie is the one to eventually take down Butcher, because as bad as supes are, it isn't people's fault they're exposed to this compound. This is significant because it basically is Hughie's arc to go from this coward to this stomper who makes his own decisions. Without super-powers, he really kind of can't stand on his own two feet against Butcher.

It seems like they still want to go down this route, but there's a lot missing for it to really make sense. Which is why episodes 1-3 really fall flat.

Compound V being used by civilians introduces all kinds of problems with the logic of the comic. If the Boys can get Compound V, why not the CIA or some other merc group to fight the superheroes? If it's so common that whores HAVE to use it in order to sustain the marathon fuck parties, why is it not more common in society if fucking prostitutes are using it? It introduces a lot of things that could of have been explored like vigilantes using it, kids using it like roids to be like their heroes, etc. But the comic just neglects such plot holes.

I mean, the series wasn't really trying for anything too deep. The central message, inasmuch as it has one, is that giant corporations are ungoverned by morals, and giving them access to power even governments can't rival is a Bad Thing. Which is...pretty banal, all things considered, but Ennis has never been the most intellectually deep of writers.
