Crossposting my posts about the removal of notifications:
The change is pointless and is transparently just about adding arbitrary, unnecessary inconvenience to a useful feature.
Users want the choice to do something in one click, and you are saying "but we have all these other ways to do it with more than one click!"

The only point of the change is purposefully making a useful site feature more inconvenient for everyone to use just to spite a specific group of users. It is a stupid decision and should be reversed.
The bell icon is one click. Going to other menus and opening entirely new pages requires more. It is unnecessary inconvenience.
I genuinely don't see what was wrong with simply calling stickerspergs faggots and moving on. We don't need to restructure the site to be more inconvenient for everyone just to try and stop a gaggle of retards (who were, at the absolute worst, an occasional annoyance) from being retarded. Hell, if their presence is such an unbearable menace that addressing their behavior with changes to the site is a must, why not just disable their sticker notifications and leave the rest of the site out of it?
I can't overstate how useful they were for navigating on mobile.

Reaction score encourages posting, so it should be kept. Stickers too. The score system is good as long as there is an option to downvote a post you dislike. Reaction score to messages ratio is also a good eyeball to judge how engaged a user is in posting if you see him in the thread for the first time. Yeah, you can use the "joined" date, but that rarely tells you anything.

Default the alerts to off. Switch them off for all users. Make any user who wants them change the setting. Prune the alerts table so the Commodore 64 this site runs on doesn't actually die from alerts.

I too, like many, use them for threads that are not important enough to watch but I sort of want to see if anyone thinks my post was useful and maybe check in on them.

like I'm more certain of ever that not only did reactions discourage users from using the site conversation, but the alerts for reactions trained people to focus on threads where there is already activity, and where they already get the most stickers. Why post in a thread about X when it doesn't get stickers? Thread Y is bumping and has lots of stickers, so I will keep going back to that.

Seems like taking away the scores and notifications was a form of Affirmative Action. The poor Melanin American threads can't get engagement on their own, so Null needed to take opportunities away from the rest of us to make sure everybody's equal. DEI comes for all, even the Farms.

☪️ is the only sticker that matters and I will be content so long as I am able to give glory to Allah swt and his Messenger, Mohammed pbuh.

Looks like you can still see the points of people who react to posts. Just click on the reactions.
*sigh*

Heh, pity that so few people understand that stickers are designed to give you a dopamine rush...

I liked stickers because it told me that people were reading my cool posts.
I feel the same way. It's kind of nice to know that someone actually read whatever you posted, and having a way to let others know you read what they posted. Not everything warrants a full reply - sometimes just a little thumbs up will do.

I feel like it probably does encourage a level of participation from less prolific users, or people who might otherwise lurk.

Removing stickers is the perfect way for a group of ideologues to hijack the site and turn it into some shit like Something Awful.
Stickers are for fags. Having your reaction score notifications turned on is the gayest thing you can do on the internet while not actively sucking 36 cocks in a row.
Without a pile of trashcans getting dumped on bad ideas people will begin to assume others approve of them if a dedicated group were to just keep repeating them...
Or you can bully, dox and harass faggots instead. No one's going to stop you or complain.

Kinda like a certain group of people love to do about A&N. (The ones claiming A&N was mad about stickers / derailing threads were in fact the ones mad about stickers and derailing threads.)
Niggers tongue my anus.
