I won't lie, for a second I thought the Instagram username was Zanzibart, which would be very poignant to anyone who knows their Dark Souls meme lore and how it would relate to the storytelling here.
FORGIVE ME...

And thinking on it, he already makes backups of NPCs and equipment in Bethesda-style testing halls.
The Amazing Digital Scrolls mod when?

You don't even have to go into technical details at all, the biggest, most obvious unanswered question is why the system is still running 20 years after Caine was first created.

It obviously can't be Kinger or Queenie or any of the original devs keeping it running, we see them living their lives elsewhere (I actually saw a 4chan post speculating that Queenie was keeping it running to keep Kinger's brainscan entertained, as the real Kinger died long ago -- but no, that's not what happens).

And it also begs the question why a bougie real estate kween like Ragatha wouldn't just pull the plug the moment she finds that thing still running. I have a hard time believing a porky like her would be thrilled about that electrical bill -- more than likely the whole building would be cleaned out before it's sold. Moreover, why is the damn building still abandoned if Ragatha was the first non-dev brainscan to enter the system? WHY ISN'T IT SOLD YET???

And how the fuck does someone who was hit by a fucking truck get brain scanned into this system located in an abandoned building??? Did she get hit so hard that she was smashed through the building wall and exit out the other side with the headset attached to her head like a Looney Tunes cartoon?

THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE INTERNET ACCESS UNTIL KINGER LOGGED IN VIA TELNET (AND EVEN THAT IS ASS BACKWARDS, YOU CAN'T JUST JUMP TO THE CLIENT MACHINE FROM THE SERVER LIKE THAT, FUCK).

ok so there is going to be a cast Q&A at momocon in 30 minutes and its being streamed

high chance of a troll screaming spoilers for everyone in the crowd.

People argue that Tron theory would require an explanation for why nobody’s families are searching for them, but would that even matter? Most of the cast barely acknowledges having lives outside the circus at all. Pomni, Zooble, and Gangle never mention parents, siblings, friends, not even a fish. Kinger seemingly only had his wife by the time he entered the circus. Jax, Ribbit, and Ragatha are the only ones who really bring up family, and even then it’s mostly framed as their parents not caring about them or cutting contact after some incident.

If the characters almost never think about their families outside of the specific arcs that depend on it, then clearly it isn’t actually important to the story. The cast can’t see outside the simulation anyway, so the characters -- and therefore the audience -- wouldn’t know whether anyone is searching for them or not. Maybe they are searching for them, but we can't know that because the characters have no way to acquire that knowledge. We don’t need answers about their real-world appearances either because there wouldn't be anything to reference. It got zapped into the game, so their human selves are non-existent. It could have also half-explained why C&A is abandoned now. It's a small company of 6 people, and everyone who was involved all got completely absorbed.

But Tron theory would’ve solved so much shit. If they’re all just mind files, why can’t Caine restore backups? Why can’t he repair corrupted data? When Caine started malfunctioning, the cast’s original plan was literally to put him into sleep mode and revert him to an older version, which implies older states can be restored. And if Caine can crawl himself back out of the recycle bin without the cast doing anything to influence his return, then what actually makes abstraction permanent? Why is abstraction treated as irreversible when the show itself keeps implying these systems are recoverable?

The only problem with Tron theory is that it wouldn't explain how the computer is still running in an abandoned building, but I feel like that would be easier to justify than all this other shit Goose introduces with SOMA. There's plenty of camera angles and fourth wall breaks to imply that someone is managing the computer. Run with that, maybe.

On another note, why is there even a PLAY, OPTIONS, QUIT menu if Kinger's team never developed a game, and only intended to develop artificial intelligence? Where did that come from? Who made it into a game?

EDIT: also what the fuck, how did Gangle get into the game? Can we explain that?

Frankly? I doubt Goose thought about the details of the world beyond 'people are trapped in an old shitty 90s edutainment game', and basically handwaved every detail beyond that initial pitch. Goose likely made up everything about the outside world on the spot when writing each episode.

I've been reading and looking at some of the leaks here.

Man, what a disastrous way to end a series after only a couple of years. There's a lot to say here, a lot of things, but I'll try to summarize it as best I can.

First and foremost, Cooper's reaction to the situation speaks volumes. The fact that he didn't care in the slightest that the leaks happened just shows how incredibly exhausted he is about this show and wants to get away from it as quickly as possible and move on to other things. I can't really blame him considering all the crap he had to deal with from the fandom and the people who pointed out the show's glaring flaws.

I can't help but feel a little bad for him, but on the other hand, given how he reacted, it's not surprising that things ended up like this. Ending up hating something you created as an artist must feel awful, but it's something he brought on himself; he learned the chaos of interacting with the fandom way too late.

It's obvious that long-term storylines like The Amazing Digital Circus aren't suited to someone like him. It's clear the bar was set too high for the massive audience he ended up amassing. I directly blame GLITCH for this, considering he wanted to make a 2D series. It's obvious he didn't have much control over his show.

If I remember correctly they declined it being in 2D because GLITCH didn't really have a 2D department at the time like they do now. I personally think the show works better in 3D, though.
