They should have just embraced a completely dark and fucked up ending where Caine turns into the actual AM and just starts mindlessly torturing the others for his own sick source of entertainment forever and ever. It would be a good metaphor for how Glitch probably feels towards their own audience right now.

The only legacy this show will have is weird fetish porn of the clown girl.

And also for being the poster child of this whole "Indie Renaissance" thing of the 2020s.

With the exception of Pomni, N, Blitzo, ENA and the characters that existed before 2020, it is very possible that the other characters will be forgotten in the next decade.

Decent 3d animation, 'NOTHING EVER FUCKING HAPPENS' story. It's a common trend with Glitch shows to my understanding. Solid animation but nothing else worthwhile

Glitch's entire brand is based entirely on Style over Substance.

It's basically what all of Glitch's stuff feels like to me. TADC got lucky because it had a neat aesthetic thrown on top of it.

I said this before, but Digital Circus is a show that was at the right place at the right time. Here's something I wrote in this thread last year:
A really important factor that contributed to Digital Circus' success is that it's a show that was at the right place at the right time. As the video says, most of YouTube top viewed videos are kids content. Kids content is meant to be watch and rewatched. Digital Circus' colorful artstyle and fluid animation is eye candy for children, and even if it's just an artistic choice, since it's meant to be another "kiddy stuff that's actually dark and scary", it's still appealing to them because "kiddy stuff that's actually dark and scary" is also very popular with kids, hence the whole mascot horror genre. Digital Circus has just the right amount of kid appeal, especially when compared to other web cartoons: The Hellaverse doesn't have kid appeal, Murder Drones doesn't have kid appeal, Lackadaisy doesn't have kid appeal, and on top of that, Digital Circus is an easy to follow show, as its simplicity allows anyone to understand it easily. It's not as convoluted as Helluva Boss or Murder Drones. As I said in the Glitch thread, Digital Circus raised an entire generation.

Regarding the animation community, keep in mind the time period in which Digital Circus was released. It's 2023 and the animation industry isn't in great shape: the three main children's networks, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel, have lost popularity to YouTube, and their respective owners are focusing all their efforts on streaming, which only complicates things further for cartoon creators, such as the unfair cancellation of new animated projects by Netflix or the infamous HBO Max Purge. Both Disney and Warner Bros. had their respective 100th anniversaries that year, and both were shit, with Disney being the worst here, making bad decision after bad decision, like with the movie Wish or the live-action adaptations. And then, out of nowhere, this bright and colorful pilot emerges, taking the entire world by surprise. "Ooh! How far the animation industry has fallen when some small, humble and innocent Australian D-list animation studio made a cartoon with great animation, great story, great humor, great characters, great voice acting, great music by themselves! These guys have saved and revolutionized the animation medium as we know it! The Amazing Digital Circus is the best animation of 2023!" Ok, this is an exaggeration, but people really did say things like this in 2023, and they still do to some extent. Even back in the pilot episode era, I remember seeing many comments saying "Glitch Productions defeated Disney," years before Knights of Guinevere even existed. Digital Circus is a milestone in the history of animation, its impact was so big, that the pilot was nominated for the Annie Awards for Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production.

No, seriously, that really happened

Here's the link if you watch to check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annie...n_an_Animated_Television/Broadcast_Production

Keep in mind that it's usually stuff from corpos that recieve nominations, so seeing this web cartoon nominated alongside giants, is surreal, and even if it didn't win, the mere fact of having been nominated is impressive. As of this writing, this is the only time Glitch Productions has been nominated for an award.

While Hazbin Hotel demonstrated that indie web animation can reach the same level of quality as mainstream productions and that the internet is the ideal place to pitch a cartoon since there are no restrictions, establishing the format of releasing pilot episodes on YouTube (although it wasn't the first of these, there were already pilots of animated series on YouTube before Hazbin such as Liam Vickers' Cliffside), it was Digital Circus that proved that indie web animation can be very successful and have a great impact worldwide, officially starting the "Indie Renaissance". Each month, many indie pilots come and go, most trying to capitalize on the success of Digital Circus. not understanding what made it so popular. You could even say the same about Glitch themselves, since despite the good critical reception of The Gaslight District and Knights of Guinevere, neither of them managed to reach the level of fame and popularity of Digital Circus.

Jesus fucking Christ what level of jewery did this silly Mario 64 Bloopers man even achieve to just get an entire free company handed to him and his brother? They have to have had connections or family in the government, there's no way they just went up and said "hey give us your taxes, we can make kino, here's my resume of moving Mario up and down in GMOD and making him say NIGGER!"

Don't forget that he began doing those Mario videos when he was 11 years old.

With TADC the only characters worth any screen time are Kinger and Ragatha.
See, Kinger was the only character I ever cared when he said something. He's also the only one that when the series calmed down to let him speak seemed to have any real impact on things. His parts always had a certain feel to them. I get the feeling though that between trying to please fan girls and the people in creative rolls being unable to understand the concept of deeper relationship connections they just couldn't do anything to start off with.

Like to them marriage doesn't mean anything, and hating their parents and calling them abusive is just something that happens with everyone. I do wonder how much of it is also them existing in places where showing genuine emotions and vulnerability opens you up to being attacked. I see a lot of zoomers and alpha basically hiding everything behind 20 layers of irony and denial as a survival mechanism so I wonder if they can even break out of that.

I mean her only personality traits are gender dysphoria and bartending so what else were they supposed to do with her?
for some reason her opening the bar in-- I'm guessing her 20s-- makes her seem like a rich kid staring at her navel all day while Tumblr-ing and choosing genders so her parents gave her money to open a business
Just seems worse than her simply being a bartender

Found some screenshots and even a few seconds of footage. They seem legit.

I'm going to post here a video since that is the one I'm the most confident in being real and not faked.

It seems like they are going to stay there forever. This is the most unsatisfying way to end the show. Them escaping the simulation would've been the good ending, and mass suicide would've been funny at least.

Thank you Brazil, very cool!
There's no way Gooseworx said fuck you guys on this ending :story:

I woke up after a 14 hour sleep refreshed and thinking more about the leaks. I think i finally got what goose was going for guys.

But then... Some new leaks released and i have to assume goose is retarded or glitch forced him to change the ending or something because there is no way this presentation matches.

-The first is a leak posted some pages earlier of jax talking to pomni. It wasn't subtitled so yall probably missed but he says "you were not supposed to love me" and that got me some wild whiplash lol. What you mean love? Was this meant to be a love story? It was actually #doomed #hetslop all along?

-The second is the leak of Caine coming back and showing everyone their IRL social media where they're all relatively normal, happy, sucessful and irl Jax is even friends with irl zooble and a TRANS ALLY.

I thought the whole point of both this show was the exit and their past lives don't matter. It never mattered. The only thing that matters is that we are alive and together, so we keep trying. Your life will always be worth living and you should live it for the friends you have and the friends you lost. Hindsight is 20/20 but this was obvious from the first 2 episodes with gumigoo and pomni realizing she is not alone.

BUT THEN. YOU GET THEIR PAST LIVES ANYWAY. AND THEY'RE ALL NORMAL AND WHOLESOME. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? I THOUGHT THIS WAS IHNMAIMS INSPIRED HORROR? Imagine if SOMA ended like that..

I cannot believe goose did that. I think goose wanted TADC to end with Jax hiperventilating to death and Pomni failing to save him. It would be awful but it would be thematically coherent and goose is clearly one who values themes and such.

I theorize that Glitch actually forced his hand because they said the show ending like THAT might lead troons and kids to start a school shooting, or even worse, to attack Glitch HQ! So in the fucking last 5-10 minutes of the movie they fucking resurrect caine, have him be good now and tell everyone their real selves are happy out there...

But it doesn't matter because their real selves are not them anymore. It never mattered. If anything it makes Jax looks worse as he has no freudian excuse and him dying made everything better.

Of all issues with TADC, one of the largest unmentioned ones is how Goose will set up a complex existential crisis only to completely handwave it shortly after and it kills this show. Down to the final fucking episode, it starts with characters find out they are all brain scans, they get sad for a bit, kinger gives a pep talk. they get together but then jax abstracts and makes the entire rest of the movie about him.

It's like a summary of The Amazing Digital Circus isn't it? There was an interesting question being set up here but then the rest of the show is about Jax.

The worst part is that Kovach typing NEGA 7 years ago ruined the chance of this finale being given the benefit of doubt. If the fandom reputation was better, you would see more people bring media literacy, themes and such, and you're just mad the tumblr sexyman / hetslop ship died. But it's already becoming another generational punching bag ending.

I don't know if this is just the Frequency Illusion or whatever, but man, I'm so glad I've got the ending of the 2015 Mad Max game fresh in my mind. That was another ending people really hated at the time. If I'm picking up what people in the thread are putting down (I never watched TADC past the pilot, so I'm going off people's assessments over the last few pages) it sounds like there's some really fucking interesting parallels between TADC's themes and Mad Max 2015's ending -- except Mad Max's ending was actually good whether you saw it coming or not:

If you WERE paying attention and saw it coming, Max ending up as a grief-driven rage monster totally makes sense, because he's been actively resisting any kind of personal growth the whole time. Even if you WEREN'T paying attention, it still makes sense that a nigga finding his soon-to-be new wife and daughter horrifically murdered - the one thing that seemed to be making him human again - would cause him to crash out so hard that he's just totally unrecoverable now.

A fucking AAA semi-casual game made by a studio known for underwhelming stories, specifically to capitalize on the Fury Road movie coming out, did its ending better than TADC seems to. I'm really tempted to work this into my script, but I'd have to actually watch TADC to know if the comparisons would make sense, and I don't want to.

on that topic, idk why milenial liberals cant fucking write compelling characters instead of making strawmen and puppets for their own beliefs. too many god damn self inserts and unlikable characters the writers so want you to care for when their personalities can be summed up in 2-3 traits. thats not what a compelling character is made of. you need actual effort put into your writing and delve deeper into who the character is instead of a self insert strawman and lE tRaUmA.

heres a good exercise: imagine what they would do with more mundane situations and questions. whats their go-to karaoke song? what do they do in their free time? whats their dream vacation spot? what is their favorite food? what do they usually buy from a grocery store?
