Because of course the character who's known for being a massive dickhead to female characters is confirmed trans. Rate me MATI, but how is this acceptable anymore? These perverts create characters that basically tell the world "I hate (cis) women" and people, ESPECIALLY women, eat it up and lust after them! I can't stand transsexualism infecting media, not that I ever would have watched this anyways because of how it looks but still. I hate transsexual men and how they've sunk their greasy claws with chipped black nail polish into entertainment of literally all forms. Make it end :(

Can someone please SparkNotes the series for me? The last episode I watched was the one where Pomni and Kinger go into some dungeon that makes Kinger temporarily lucid, but there was so much dead air, so much forced exposition, and so much cringe that I decided the cartoon was a lost cause. Didn't help that the creator is a terminally online tranny.

I dont know what to make of them having a jax x pomni montage literally set to 'isnt she lovely' followed by jax fucking dying. Fanservice? The ultimate middle finger to funnybunny shippers? Both???
 
Hm...I wonder why those big animated movies that offer alternative to mainstream studios and distributors are leaking like Avatar and The Amazing Digital Circus? I wonder why an A24, an indie distributor, Oscar nominated movie got a lot of cancel culture fabrication outrage because of Chalamet? It's like...a huge coincidence.

Yes, the situation is terrifying in theory. On paper knowing for a fact you are trapped forever in a place with monsters that used to be like you, and might be you one day, should be horrifying. Worse, you don’t even get the luxury of being real.

But in practice this is indistinguishable from a Steven Universe therapy episode. Crying talking about feelings and then cope with the power of friendship. And they just hug it out with Caine.

They have the horror set up of "I have not Mouth and I must Scream" , but the gravitas and maturity of "My Little Pony".

The thing that fascinates me most about digital circus is that it claims to be a horror series, openly takes direct inspiration from a horror short story, has a horror premise, and even has the first episode set it up as a horror show, only to immediately turn into a quirky workplace dramedy where they pretend that whatever Caine tells them to do actually matters, occasionally crying about their traumas.

I think the issue is people these days like concepts more than the show or movie itself. They'll spend 30 minutes watching a digital circus episode, maybe even rewatching it a couple times, but then they'll spend every minute they can reading wikis, watching video essays, writing fan fiction and theories, erotic roleplaying, etc. and would probably freak out if anything actually bad happened to Pomni.
 
What they should have actually done is have Jax discover that he can conjure better than anyone else, have him go completely mad, shaping the circus in his own image, creating a nightmare world out of it where the characters are ACTUALLY in it, where there are ACTUAL stakes, and have Pomni be the one to try and talk him down. We can have all the Ribbit and Kaufmo flashbacks we want here.

Only AFTER Pomni gets him emotional does he abstract (similarly to how the bright flash scene happens, you can have all that shit still). Jax is lost, Pomni is sad, but the nightmare seems over... but oh snap! Now we have a rampant abstraction with the power to abstract everyone else running around! (with a unique design and not a cheaply reused Kaufmo model).

Then we get the Caine scene, he manages to beat his inner Gollum, and his Smeagol then manages to return and save the day by subduing the abstracted Jax.

THEN you can have your gay Twitter/Instagram outro and your "happily ever after". It would have been so easy to make this episode better while keeping most of the content.

But I guess it was more important to abstract Jax early to *SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS* than have a story with actual stakes.

I did briefly ponder the possiblity of Jax lovers and haters breaking out into a brawl after the abstraction scene. Half of them will be cheering while the others cry, which can quickly spiral into a hilarious situation when you're dealing with a theater full of freaks. It's mostly amusing to imagine a bunch of fat, sweaty, tumblr trannies beat on each other with their bingo wings while Isn't She Lovely plays in the background.

The last thing the theater crowd heard was "Allah Jaxbar!" before the obese Muslim convert tranny's suicide vest detonated.
