I feel like Bubble being Abel (or whatever Caine's younger and more successful brother that he consumed was called) is basically a foregone conclusion at this point.
One could assume Abel is re-designated Bbel in this new version/state/mark/etc., and then turning Bbel into the recognizable word BUBble via visuals and pronunciation (like mentally pronouncing McX as MacX in surnames) is my overly-complex way to explain the name. Heck, if Abel is supposed to be pronounced with a Short A all this time (I use Long A) and thus an easy sound shift to Short U, well, even better.
That's why I didn't buy it for a second when they apparently said this show is totally for adults and not 12 year olds, because it aped the worst parts of Bojack Horseman's writing style where the majority of the episodes are total Mickey Mouse clubhouse-nonsense and at the last 5 minutes, one character vents about how their father would fuck them in a frog suit or some shit and get the show a ton of unearned praise for actually being cool and emotional.

The issue is nuance. The show itself, unlike Silent Hill, also keeps endlessly insisting upon itself as something that is important. Every little detail must be taken seriously, even for something that shows up for a few frames. This endless theory-crafting is not something Silent Hill does and uses cues to show "hey, this thing here has importance and symbolic meaning", allowing the viewer/player to catch onto what is being conveyed. Theory-crafting is fine, however if you allow both the viewer to come up with their own theories only to then condemn them, you are having one foot in one foot out. It just comes off as nonsensical. Also everything has a quite literal meaning thereby making it so no cognitive thought process is used to decode or understand anything. Also the skinning scene being a reference to a meme indicates such as well.
No wonder animation is still considered "for kids", at least western produced stuff. Everyone just wants the credit but is too lazy to go in and do the leg work. I will say that this is one thing Nippon has over everyone else, they can properly handle serious topics with serious animation, unlike the directors who just need to be subversive. It just needs to be stylised like a kids show but have hecking realistic panic attacks!!!!! You have the ability to tell a serious story through a more serious artistic medium but you instead waste it for this. I honestly think this is just because Disney has such a griphold over animation (or had), that it still heavily influences people. See Dana Terrace for example. One can say universities teach you to draw like this but they only bend that way since that is what "gets you jobs" in the industry. I think the only fun people are having with the show is injecting their own ideas into it because the show is otherwise boring as fuck. I had a glimmer of hope that one of those 1-800 numbers would be an answering machine for C&A, which would have been a fun surprise. But the phone number being nothing more than an accident in editing was all the confirmation I needed, and I've adjusted my expectations for the show accordingly.
