This probably won’t happen, but it would be a great twist if all our characters are copies of humans who just put on a headset, had their brains scanned, took it off and went about their lives. Our characters being an AI copy of the originals and stuck in a broken world forever would be a new take on this type of story, and raise the question of how we should feel about a sentient AI that may as well be so human even the AI doesn’t know it’s not.
Now, that’s not gonna happen but I like that idea.

I'll be real, even if it was five bucks I'm not sure I have the courage to watch the finale in a public theater.
Given the cross section of fans that TADC has I imagine this happening (it's me I'm the one yelling about niggers)

This seems like the most logical outcome with what we know at the moment tbh, but we'll see how troonworx snatches defeat from the jaws of victory.

look, I actually like this show for what its trying to be in spite of its flaws, but I would never pretend this is some deep and mature series for adults only, and I'm not just talking about the kid-friendly aesthetic, tonally and thematically, this has the same amount of depth as most shows targeted for children and teenagers, only with more explicitly adult content references.

The theory about Jax having killed someone while driving (probably Gangle) reminds me a lot of Hereditary and how the son’s accidental killing sets the whole dark prophecy in motion, particularly as he begins to lose it. Would be a cool alt concept to Jax take the Circus like that over at the very least.

I’m not too sure how this thread “feels”, but this all is just… so on the nose. All of it really. It’s not a narrative that provides any form of genuine, possible interpretations. The entire skinning Jax scene is so incredibly brown nose it feels incredibly shameless for how “dumb” it is. For a show that prides itself on being able to theory-crafting, it rather just shoves it all in your face providing no resolution that could even have possible questions. Maybe it is personal taste, but as someone else I know mentioned, “the show is not profound, merely entertaining”. You can take what you will but I’m curious how people feel here since I know discussion of this show anywhere else is infested with retarded trannies and all sorts of bad actors who will sperg out at even possibly poking holes in your le favourite media.

This isn't new and has been done a number of times in media and it's almost always been done horribly in recent examples. Them not being people would mean nothing fucking matters and there's no motivation or stakes to be had and the entire plot was a waste of time. Also Caine is literally "sentient ai that acts human" and they literally did that "oh no i'm not even a real guy" plot already with the australian gator.

The plot is is "Idea making ai ends up trapping people in a simulation because he wants to entertain them and is utterly shit at it" and if everyone's just brain scans of people then that just makes them npcs which means it doesn't fucking matter what happens because he doesn't even have anyone trapped in the simulation to try and entertain and-

I felt like it was intended for adults at first, but since it (unsurprisingly) got more popular with kids, it started gearing towards them after the first episode.

Majority of this series is just fan service and fanfic fuel. It took this series eight episodes in for shit to actually have some bearing to the plot for once, before that it didn't. All the dumb "emotional" and "wholesome" moments meant nothing to me because they weren't deserved, due to the fact that none of the characters had any agency until recently.
 
Only problem I have with the SOMA/clone theory is... how tf did the circus have the weird number of people it had?

Its way too little for it to be commonly used in hospitals for almost dead patients or anything like that, but wayyy too many for it to all be only people who put on the headset in the c&a building. We know kinger and the other ogs put it on after creating it, Ragatha mightve been touring the building as a realtor and came across it that way, Pomni and Zooble did urbex which is fair enough for them to come across it... but Jax and Gangle? Ribbit and Kaufmo? The 4 or so other unnamed ex-residents visible in the hallway? They couldnt all have been realtors/urbexing, right?
 
I’m doubtful about the entire “urbex” thing, or even realtors, beyond “who leaves such a system laying around?”. The national security implications of such a device (alongside ethical concerns) means only such a device possibly exists in a heavily controlled environment. There is no conceivable way you leave such tech laying around in an abandoned building. Example: after the F117 was retired, they scraped every single last bit of radar resistant material (which was in the paint coating) off of it. Seriously look at images of them. There is nothing left on them and they are left in the boneyards now that anyone can visit.

The clone theory is believable, however the idea that everyone involved is more than just patients being used willingly/unwillingly becomes not very believable considering the tech at hand. I’d just say the show does its theory-crafting very, very poorly.

People's immediate reaction to being stuck in the fucking thing consistently being "oh shit oh no oh god" is kind of interesting in it sorta implies they have a reason to take the thing off before getting fully pulled in. Closest thing I can think that'd make sense with is them being dragged into one of them stasis pods that were mentioned.

Private security personnel, no way you leave such tech alone in a building without oversight. This is the stuff you only see in the headquarters of a company. Also as someone else pointed out, the people they have gotten for this program is weird (and the sample size is far, far too small imo).
