this one kinda worries me as well, the best thing Episode 6 did for me is characterizing Jax really well, after 5 episodes of being a mild nuisance funnyman, we finally get what makes him tick, why he acts the way he does, to summarize, he's an incredibly pathetic retard who's undergoing a self-destructive downward spiral, his cope of living in the circus is believing himself and the others to be nothing more than cartoon characters who aren't "real" anymore, becoming a full-on misanthropist, but this all changed when he got a little too close with Pomni, this short friendship revealed how he is when he's just "himself" once again, when he's not trying to make himself as unlikable as possible, he's actually quite fun to be around with how quickly he bonded with Pomni, but Ragatha's comments about "corrupting her" and being reminded about Ribbit force him back to his usual persona of pushing people away in the most hurtful way he can, his friendship with Pomni made him feel human again, and that scares him, all of his unpleasant and toxic behavior would all be for nothing if he changes back to who he really is.
If episode 7 revealed him and Ribbit to be gay lovers with that guy tragically dying or if he was just some gender-confused weirdo, I wouldn't say he would be totally ruined, but it would be anti-climactic, his motives and reasons for the way he is would be massively simplified to be out of some homo angst rather than a man who is about to destroy himself and most likely someone else because of a horrifically misguided worldview on surviving the digital circus.
The most ironic thing about all of this is that this is what makes him act the most human of the cast, it would be sad to see this washed away.

That's just the first thing my mind went to because every time I hear non-binary I already come with the idea that we are talking about a man in a dress. Can't even remember what I thought of her voice because of the little focus she gets, it's not like I was checking back and forth to see if I could tell all the VA were gender specials or not.
Gooseworx understood that the best way to avoid dragging the show into unnecessary drama was to keep quiet and not air every single opinion he has, too bad that The Amazing Digital Retards™ of his voice actors didn't got the memo.
