Binged the series. Fun fact, the youtube app on my tv shows me the most skipped portion of the episode and its always the therapy sections. The funniest joke in the series is when Pomni sees gangle sad in episode 4 and goes "ah not this shit again"
I hate how Jax had an unironic "hyper ventilating panic attack in the bathroom mirror" scene. I already know there is some retarded milenial making a video or tweet calling that scene "realistic showcase of TRAUMA!" and "proof that cartoons are not for kids!"
I thought what with the static that was supposed to be a "jax is about to abstract" fakeout, and he looks at the camera and calls us stupid when he obviously doesn't.
The simpler explanation is he's an abusive asshole and Gangle's the easiest to manipulate. If anyone's the secret NPC, it's probably Jax. Caine said he couldn't mind control people, but he was able to with Jax. Both by compelling him to be a vegan, and that whole eye to eye forced recall thing he did in the last episode. Looks a lot like how he'd program an NPC. Jax also wouldn't show the others what his 'hold your breath' quirk was, and he withheld on sharing what he was in the real world.
Honestly the show plays pretty fast and loose with that rule. The stupid sauce is shown affecting two characters, kinger has his whole sundowning thing, gangles personality seems to be affected by the masks, and all of the characters having their names erased but nothing else seems way too convenient.

I think youre being too good of a writer. My bet is it'll be something more boring, like he's just a loser in real life and is insecure. Probably a washed up actor/popstar. Or they're ALL AI and its some gay therapy simulation program. Caine does just outright call everyone "intelligent AIs" in episode 5.

The entire show is actually just an unfinished quirky retro graphics game about trauma made by a tranny. It's all meta-meta commentary and the show ends with the creator deleting everything and ACK-ing.

Then it ends with a black screen with the trans suicide line info on it.

I’m gonna throw out a theory: Gangle’s the NPC and that’s why Jax was focusing so much on her because he’s the only one who knows and, as an NPC, he doesn’t have to worry about the whole “being too attached” since she’s not real in the first place.

I know it’s not actually the case, I’m just theory crafting.

Or maybe all that was a red herring and in the last episode they'll subvert expectations with some bullshit. Who knows.
I can see a case for both, Gangle is curiously omitted from having an evil counterpart in episode 5 and Jax is very secretive about sharing anything about his past life.

But then again, the Gangle thing could just be Caine not caring about her and Jax has that old frog friend that probably abstracted so maybe he just doesn't like to get too attached to anyone as a result. Or maybe all of these things are just red herrings that they throw you at randomly and will have no relation to the real twist they will end doing in the future.

- The pacing. You cannot tell me that there's only 3 more episodes left when it feels like the plot is barely advancing and nothing of what was teased in the pilot is being addressed, the characters just meander for most of the episodes and despite some of them being stuck in the circus for years are now having all this big arcs of change just because they interacted with Pomni for a few days?

Thinking about how these people have been there for YEARS makes these sudden developments look so weird.

Ragatha literally telling Kinger "It's weird how you're crazy but sometimes you're smart haha how do you do that?" as if she is aware that this is a real trait of kinger but not aware of how it works. Meanwhile Pomni on her third day spends 10 minutes with kinger in a dark place, asks why he's different and he explains he's saner in the dark cause it reminds him of his wife. It was that easy.

How come no one EVER had this scenario with him and the moment ragatha goes through, kinger doesn't ellaborate?

I thought what with the static that was supposed to be a "jax is about to abstract" fakeout, and he looks at the camera and calls us stupid when he obviously doesn't.

It was definitely not a "fakeout", his panic attack was serious and he might've abstracted if he didn't pull it back together like Gangle did. His insult is more cope.

The bathroom stall also has "Chill Felix" written which feels like more lore bait.

I can see a case for both, Gangle is curiously omitted from having an evil counterpart in episode 5

Goose explained on twitter that gangle has no evil doppelganger because they thought "it would be funny".

You're not the first one who thought about it tho. That's kinda the issue with theory baiting too much on your zany cartoon comedy, the joke doesn't land cause people assume it must be secret lore to be solved.

Everyone in the circus is autistic.

I would think Gangle is the least likely to be the NPC because I feel like we know the most about their life before getting trapped (their dreams, hobbies, and previous work experience). My guess is that Gangle will be the next to abstract because Jax goes too far with bullying her, which leads to a dogpile on Jax that sets up the final conflict.

What if the characters are a ai that are a Snapshot of the characters

That's literally it and episode 6 makes it beyond obvious that this is it.

I thought so. It's just something funny. I wished people stopped looking deeper into shit that have a clear purpose.

It sort of makes sense to assume Caine didn't have time to create an Evil Gangle due to the pacing of the lightning round and his declining sanity. That, or the writers figured the previous episode already had an Evil Gangle, so they wanted to give more focus to a character as iconic as Orbsman.

I would dismiss it as cartoon logic too. But considering the characters themselves noticed it was odd, then I think it's something we were meant to notice

After they voted Jax so Caine would make Jax a Vegan, Jax was confused because he thought Caine couldn't control their minds. He was cut mid sentence but that's what he was going to say. Same episode pointed out his missing tail.

So either Caine is lying (or isn't aware he is lying), or they aren't human.

I think this is a decent show that I would have liked a lot more if I was still in high school.
I saw the pilot, and while I thought it was fine, I had no desire to go past it. After all the weird shit I've seen over the years, it felt very tame. I think it would suited as "teen's first existential horror" since it introduces the theme without having gross body horror.

I tried to watch this series and the random exposition by the characters and forced "lore building" makes me cringe.

It lets up in a few episodes episodes, but is replaced with nearly 4th-wall breaking "emotional" character bonding moments that feel just as cringe.

I've always suspected they were digital avatars based on the brain scans of real humans who put on VR headsets. It'd be different if they were humans who stepped into a stasis pod, or humans who were drugged and unwillingly put into a digital world, like the movie (I'll spoiler it 'cause it's somewhat recent) Don't Worry Darling.

If anyone's the secret NPC, it's probably Jax. Caine said he couldn't mind control people, but he was able to with Jax. Both by compelling him to be a vegan, and that whole eye to eye forced recall thing he did in the last episode.
But what about Ragatha's stupid sauce, from episode 4? It made her act drunk/stoned - how was that also not an example of Cain effecting a persons mind (since Cain invented the stupid sauce)?

That just seems to function as some kind of narcotic. The bigger rebuke of what I said was how the souls of Hell were able to posses Pomni. Or is that the caveat, Cain can't mind-control people, but their avatars can be puppeted no problem?

Yeah, that's also what I mean. It's jarring and unnecessary.
It almost feels like this retard took the criticism about how Murder Drones didn't explain its plot well enough and decided "I know! I'll sit here and spoonfeed it to the viewers! Because clearly they're too retarded to understand nuance!" or something like that.
