I think only real people can abstract in the simulation.
I still hold that they aren't "real" people. They are just in the SOMA situation, digital brain scanned copies of real people that got plopped into Caine's digital playground. We already know how it happened to Pomni (exploring abandoned buildings), but the actual real versions of them probably still exist in the real world none the wiser to what is going on. That is my leading theory anyways.

The next few episodes better fucking explain what Caine is and why he is doing all this shit though.

It will never not be creepy to me how GLITCH glefully markets this show and merch to children, and still had the trans stand-in character talk about wanting the ability to have sex, knowing full well millions of children watch this show.

But I will concede theres the technicality that they never said it was for children.
Their shows feel like they are made for teens and young adults, but they didn't want to exclude children as a part of their audience at the same time (because of money). This means they have to put a limit on what they can do, making the show objectively worse, and show content not really meant for kids, which is morally questionable. Compare this to many old YouTube or Newgrounds videos. They were made with passion and didn't care about monetary gains that much; people did their own thing and hoped others would like it. Children did watch them, but they weren't the audience in mind, and these videos were memorable because of how unhinged they were.

Their shows would be better if they didn't care about appealing to children that much. They would be less popular, but they would be objectively better and more likely to stand the test of time.

He is definitely some kind of AI. Many things about Caine are references to IT. In this episode, the fact that he sings Daisy Bell was a reference as well; it was the first song sung by a computer. Caine also tends to have glitches and forget stuff spontaneously, and he is probably named after a password recovery software (Cain and Abel).

That is obvious, but what was his function, how was he created and how did he get where he is are the questions I want answered.

We don't know anything about those. It's actually weird how despite having 6 of the 9 episodes released, we still barely know anything about how that world in TADC operates or why it is like that. Even Murder Drones has done a better job at that, and that's a relatively low bar if you know how poor its writing is.

MD's story had a sense of progression in each episode but didn't explore its characters as much as it should have. TADC is the oppositebasically only episode 1 and maybe episode 2 tried to explore TADC's world, while every other episode felt like filler made for getting to know the characters in the show better.

I hope Gaslight District will be able to balance out exploring the characters and the story.

Zooble just stays static throughout. So much for being creator's self insert
It's precisely because she's the creator's self-insert that she has no arc or anything interesting. Out of the entire cast, she is the one who isn't allowed to have a single flaw.
She was given the most grandiose speech about self-acceptance in the latest episode; her biggest issue with herself is she has body dysmorphia (real subtle there, bro), and the worst thing that's happened to her throughout the entire series is being eaten by the Gloinks in the pilot before Goose settled her into the permanent 2kool4skool role.

I would argue that her flaw could be she doesn’t seem to understand what antagonizing Caine could do, but we’d have to see if/how it happens first.

This is the most popular theory. Mattpatt was one of the first to make it popular even. I still hope they go for it. It wouldn't be a surprise, but I think it would one of the most interesting path they could take. And I think it would explain a lot of the mysteries of the show.

Still, I do expect some kind of happy or at least a bitter sweet ending given how comercially succesful it is.

Gangle is older than Zooble, so the theory, troll or otherwise, doesn’t really work
At least in mannerism Gangle is acting like a 12 year old, though with her backstory she is a prime target to join a cult.

It's almost certainly the situation but the SOMA situation is just depressing, unless the writers fart out robotic bodies for the cast then they are stuck in the simulation unless they self delete.

I like this theory.
The idea of them "escaping the simulation" goes against the themes of the show.

I like the show overall, though it's riding a pretty thin line sometimes. When the characters get emotional I can often feel that if they just said one stupid fucking thing about race or gender or identity, or other fucking bullshit that I'll have to drop it. I do enjoy it so far though, and I do think it's a pretty decent exploration of the different types of fucked up people get from fucked up relationships with people. I also have just a soft-spot for things that share aesthetics with early internet culture. While the show is more something I would have watched 10 years ago, even in my current stage of life I do still enjoy good art that reminds me of who I once was.

I am mostly interested in what this is all building to, they're doing a great job giving the characters emotional depth, but to what end?

While I myself as an adult do enjoy the adult themes in the show I do agree with other users here that it'd be nice if it was made more apparent that the show is not for children, though I also know that doing so would highly limit their reach due to the nanny state that is youtube, still, not the kind of thing children should be watching, there's way too much sexualization jokes combined with the absurdist style - a kid watching this is going to get some kind fucked up inflation fetish or some shit for the rest of their life.

Fits the tranny. Question is who she wants to molest, most likely is Gangle which has several degrees of disturbing implications. Alternative is being a gooner.

The series ends with Zooble successfully grooming Gangle and revealing one of his arms has a drill attachment.

Seriously though, now that you point it out, their whole interaction across multiple episodes comes across as someone older and cynical slowly manipulating a younger, more emotionally vulnerable person into a relationship.
well too late the fandom have already latched on thoses ideas

Watched it now, some rambles

-In portuguese dub a few of zooble's swearing is straight up NOT censored and idk why or how. She says "Eu quero transar!" (I want to have sex!) out loud and it reminded me of another brazilian meme and i don't think it's intentional. They still sing that daisy song in ENGLISH and i didn't get the joke. The "Ming" joke wasnt translated either so it makes no sense.
-I don't like how many "ironic sex jokes" this show keeps getting, like bubblet alking about sex appeal and zooble asking to FUCK. It's getting harder to give goose the benefit of doubt...
-One could argue the previous episode was an outlier but not anymore. I fear Digital Circus has become another netflix millenial written show about sad people being sad and the "adventure" is just a vehicle to make up forced scenarios where characters get to trauma dump. Kinger got the worst case here as he's basically a joke character until the plot demands him to become a different character (who hates(d) himself too now?).
-There has to be a better way convey information better than having 2 people sitting in a room crying and hugging. I think this show will never have flashbacks or anything like that.
-Jax breakdown would've landed a lot harder if it the episode didn't already have 2-3 different trauma dumps and the animation made it too obvious that he's fucking coping and holding back tears. You already now that Jax will at some point cry and explain he's only mean to cope with the friends he lost because that's how goose writes.
-I hate how Jax had an unironic "hyper ventilating panic attack in the bathroom mirror" scene. I already know there is some retarded milenial making a video or tweet calling that scene "realistic showcase of TRAUMA!" and "proof that cartoons are not for kids!"
-Cain looking at a picture of an office felt like goose reminded last minute that there was no lore bait so he added last second.
-I don't like zooble and gangle relationship cause it feels like lazy "you're beautiful and valid!" trans lesbian ship bait and any depth is lost on the eye rolls. Not helped by goose making multiple implications that zooble is lesbian previous episode and fueling the ship on twitter.

+On the good side, animation and action scenes were really fun to watch. Not some insane coreography but glitch knows how to do an entertaining fight and make every second worth a screenshot.
+I liked that Pomni actually got super mad and punched Jax instead of shooting herself like goose was implying. I wish it was kept vague why she did it but nooo it was ruined by Jax having to say out loud she's only taunting him to fight back to see if he cares, but it's nice to see pomni act angry and proactive again.
+Some people are doomposting but i'm eager to see how the hell Goose is finishing this story in 3 episodes because i think it's clear the next episode will have more trauma dumps and angst. For better or worse i want to see how this ends.
+This is better than episode 5 (opinion).

Haven't watched the new episode so I must ask:
Is the EXIT door ever addressed?

No so far, it was never seen in later episodes. Feels like it was bait made for pilot and not meant to be that important.
