Gooseworx I’m fairly certain is like an old-school Newgrounds kids who started transitioning sometime before the Hazbin pilot, so she’s probably gonna be good at hovering over the line between safe-edgy jokes and stuff that would get your audience to make 2 hour long video essays about how problematic you are.
 
I do see some evidence of TADC threading the fine line in the message. It's still in the plausibly deniability area so it's not that bad. Yet.

There's already a non binary character unconfortable with her body. It's a red flag. But makes sense in the context of a digital Word.

It will all depend on how much glitch is wrangling Goosework. If they at least keep it subtle TADC can end up being good. But if they aren't, I do expect mask off trans and made up genders allegories becoming more blatant later on.
 
I don't know if it's been discussed previously, but having seen both Hazbin and TADC, it feels like the latter is a lot...darker in tone compared to the former? Which is strange because Hazbin is literally set in hell and contains demons and generally graphic violence. Perhaps it's something to do with how restrained (?) TADC is--like a minimalist and absurdist painting.

In any case, I agree with the thread's title that this thing could overshadow Hazbin Hotel. The visuals are more delightful, and TADC feels more entertaining on an episode-by-episode basis compared to Hazbin. I don't immediately sense an agenda or preachy message, and the absurdist mystery is enjoyable.

Characters are nice too, but I have no interest in seeing them outside of the show's episodes.

the reason Hazbin feels so much lighter is probably because of the musicals, that shit is for kids and teenagers, no matter how many swearing and violence you add in, these characters bust out into songs in the middle of the scene all the while we apparently have to take this show as a serious drama

I feel like that's a symptom of a bigger ailment that the show has, which is being too cowardly to commit to one specific vision

Musicals and singing can be corny as hell, but we've had operas and musicals in history that tell emotional and moving stories quite well. Hazbin's songs are emotionally charged pieces linked to its characters, but all of the 'pouring your heart out' feels overriden by the tonal mess of the show.

You're on point where its aiming to be a serious drama, but its audience cant take its messages seriously.

I honestly really have no problem with any emotionally-driven storytelling if done well enough, it makes sense for the characters to act that way, and provides the drama and conflict of the show, so far its doing okay and hasn't completely lost me yet, even if it has the flaws of sometimes being too forced and unnatural to be believable.

I'm aware most of this site consists of men, and men tend to like cool action stuff happening on-screen over more character-driven stuff like this, and if you don't like the Digital Circus for being this way, I don't think this series is for you, it's not really a flaw, and more on your personal taste in media generally.

I mean Murder Drones had double that, it had 8 episodes and you know what? Its plot was still a convoluted mess because Liam clearly had no idea how to properly convey it to the viewer so not really sure why he thinks his chances are any better.

EDIT: Okay so TADC will have 9 episodes so one extra than Murder Drones. My point still stands despite having 8 whole episodes the plot still makes very little sense. So the tranny has one extra episode to get it right.

While I do think so far TADC is still more coherent than Murder Drones was, Murder Drones also went off the rails around the mid point too so I guess we'll see how things progress from here. It ain't over till it's over.

I don't necessarily disagree, and I know it's very pretentious to say this, but I think it feels "wasted" to not use the horror aspect of TADC more often. I don't even think you need to give up character drama to make the horror more prevalent or vice-versa, the Kinger and Pomni's scene at the end of ep3 felt like a perfect mix of both aspects imo, but moments like these are so rare, which kinda makes me a bit disappointed.

I felt the same while watching Murder Drones, I thought the pilot's premise of "We're gonna build a door and make those vampire robots pay for it!" was pretty cool, and then it devolved into... whatever Liam was smoking during that day. At least the character designs and fight scenes still look cool to this day.

The Pilot really oversold the "horror" aspect of the show when TADC was never seemingly written to be that way primarily, but yeah, the horror aspects are easily the weakest part of the show since Goose also wants this to be a comedy funfest as well and was downplayed over the rest of the series.
 
Currently, Glitch is having an Award show for The amazing digital circus. I have heard nothing but a lot of bitching about this voting (Jax). It's not certain what exactly this voting format is meant for but I'm speculating it's about marketing so they know who's more likely to sell than others.

I agree with the idea that it’s for merchandise. This is what the line-up looks like at the moment.
