That’s pretty much every woke shit show ever. It’s all Just a variant of Reddit nihilism. It’s either nothing matters, or nothing matters + cope.

I personally wouldn’t have minded a nihilistic ending If they had used it for horror. After all this is an horror show so some amount of despair would have fit. Except this wasn’t meant to be scary, instead this genuinely his idea of a “deep” feel good”message. “Nothing matters learn to cope”.

It feels shallow because it is shallow. Goosework might have some talents creatively, allegedly, but it’s become increasing clear that he is still mentally a child. His answer to life is hard questions is just to retreat and play with his toys.

Don’t expect meaning from people that believe in no meaning, and have nothing meaningful to say about life. It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

The thing is this series wasn't building to a "nothing matter everyone fake" ending. You wouldn't have characters having the sit down talky moments about how much things mattered or the implication of there being an escape caine doesn't want them to know about throughout the entire series because he has issues with being alone due to literally being made to create cool ideas for/entertain humans in his game world if it was. This final one just veers out of nowhere into the lap of matpat tier retard shit despite everything that came before.

Thoroughly disappointed that the mystery, surreal, significantly existential and horror themes i.e. "wtf is this terrifying place" "why are we here" "why is this like that" and any feeling of tension or danger was canned for two trans drama storylines that go nowhere and the worst part is the motherfucking finale is about it. Not even anything about Bubble or Gummigoo in the finale. What the fuck was with all the Abel, and C n A company teasing for so long for???! The Kaufmo fanfilm showcases the right mood and themes that the show should have done. Its clear the trans creator wanted this too much and maybe they thought it would repel some of the audience if it got dark. But thats bullshit, look at dhmis, poppy, bendy, fnaf and welcome home. I don't want any depressed and mentally ill minors and adults to kill themselves over Jax, but I would bet big money that there will be at least two suicides, and that one has possibly already happened but not made the news yet. A girl already cut herself over him last month for little reason. And while I'm not sure if he was serious, yesterday in a 4chan thread a guy who sounded legitimately upset and extensively mentally ill was making threats on Goose's life and saying he wants to kill himself and as many people as he can. Over Jax.

Whats come out about Glitch's practices this year has made me hate their greedy apathetic demon ceos and I hope the movie theater lawsuits, class action lawsuits from families of anyone who hurt or killed themselves over this and the lawsuit about the stolen tv head character deliver some karma. Idk if they can really be sued over the second but maybe they can be because it seems like a pretty pro-suicide production and out of nowhere. It likely didn't have sufficient warnings for that, especially in every country that got it.

Also the blue AI being LE EEEEBIL one doesn't even make fucking sense, in the flashback we see that the red one (caine) was unstable and had to be locked away so the blue one could do it's thing, before then breaking out and consuming the blue one.

How can Caine just... pull out what basically amounts to half his existence? That's like a sentient cake pulling the eggs out of itself after it's already baked.

It had no reason to be evil; I could see it having a reason to resent Caine as the more dominant personality and seek to undermine him. It was just doing its thing in a more predictable fashion than him. I don't even think Caine was evil for escaping and consuming it anymore than those bird species that lay two eggs, yet will only care for one chick so their babies basically fight to the death at the start. Caine wanted it more.

However, they were a combined entity at that point and it does make it strange; I guess it could be like a worse done version of the Venture Bros where the brother Rusty ate in Utero eventually is born as a separate entity, but that had far more pay off and resolution for as insane a concept as it sounds. I suspect GW just wanted two lobotomies to jerk off/dilate to.

I am aware you disagree with the consensus that the SOMA theory was, and had always been, the most obvious and logical answer. I recall you even told me back then that you might even “prove” how all the evidence that the SOMA theory was true was bullshit.It was not.

It was very clear the SOMA theory was right since episode 1. It had always been the most popular theory, and the most logical explanation. Even MatPat was able to guess it, including Kinger’s role, and the existence of Queenie.

Most theories in the fandom were just people wanting SOMA not to be true, and wanting the characters to be happy.

Debating all the clues is pointless because you already said they don’t convince you, so I will take another approach.

I think it doesn’t feel right to you because you were invested in the characters and their struggles. But the key is understanding not the characters, but what their creator believes. People like Gooseworx believe that nothing matters, but that you can cope through other people, family, friends, etc. That’s all there is to it. This explains everything, even your Caine example.

If you still believe Gooseworx had a deeper message or intention, then we will have to agree to disagree. I personally do think it really is that shallow, and always had been.

I also picked up Dolls Nest recently and that game revolves around a race of androids left to their own devices mimicing the long gone organic humanoids on an abandoned overindustrialized resource starved planet

Take away from the final episode is that jax's potential redemption arc was for nothing and prior scenes such as jax almost abstracting in ep7 and other characters effort to help him were pointless in the end. Kind of funny the episode leaked the same time the boys final aired. Double humiliation ritual for the fans which goes to show its your fault for liking mainstream slop

People coping about how the leak is fake reminds me of that awful Sherlock show. The finale was so horrible that people convinced themselves it was fake and that the real finale would release soon. Even gaslit themselves into thinking some other upcoming show was fake and was actually the real Sherlock finale in disguise.
 
I just don't know why, if so unhappy with the fan base and how the show has morphed beyond their control, Goose didn't take the easy way out. Which is to make a boring ass, normy ending, where they save Jax from himself with the power of friendship, waking up in their bodies like none of it was real. They can either remember it (power of friendship made The Merge happen) or not (brain scans baleeted). Disney type shit that is inoffensive so you can get that final bag and fuck off into the sunset.

What is the gain in making a shit ending that doesn't satisfy anyone but the people who hated your guts all along? And now your fans hate you too?
