Now I understand why the cast cried their eyes out at their final script reading. Because it's ass.
Yeah I'm sorry but If you genuinely thought that any of that shit was a tearjerker you are just too soft, the team being too soft might also explain the lack of any real stakes in this show.

You don't even have to go into technical details at all, the biggest, most obvious unanswered question is why the system is still running 20 years after Caine was first created.

It obviously can't be Kinger or Queenie or any of the original devs keeping it running, we see them living their lives elsewhere (I actually saw a 4chan post speculating that Queenie was keeping it running to keep Kinger's brainscan entertained, as the real Kinger died long ago -- but no, that's not what happens).

And it also begs the question why a bougie real estate kween like Ragatha wouldn't just pull the plug the moment she finds that thing still running. I have a hard time believing a porky like her would be thrilled about that electrical bill -- more than likely the whole building would be cleaned out before it's sold. Moreover, why is the damn building still abandoned if Ragatha was the first non-dev brainscan to enter the system? WHY ISN'T IT SOLD YET???

And how the fuck does someone who was hit by a fucking truck get brain scanned into this system located in an abandoned building??? Did she get hit so hard that she was smashed through the building wall and exit out the other side with the headset attached to her head like a Looney Tunes cartoon?

THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE INTERNET ACCESS UNTIL KINGER LOGGED IN VIA TELNET (AND EVEN THAT IS ASS BACKWARDS, YOU CAN'T JUST JUMP TO THE CLIENT MACHINE FROM THE SERVER LIKE THAT, FUCK).
I swear there needs to be some sort of doctorate in science fiction and anyone creating a science fiction story needs to hire an educated master of scifi or something
TADC ending is disappointing. One season and no character development. I'm about to start making a counter. If only they could hire writers who could actually fucking brainstorm and offer ideas instead of letting creators make whatever stupid and unsatisfying ending they want.

The entire thing reeks of the crew having a toxic positivity problem where they refuse to point out logical fallacies in the pilot or to listen to anyone who might have pointed them out. "Why did this character do something this way? Oh I shouldn't ask so I can catch and fix a plot holes in time, let's ship it"

Pomni, Ragatha, Jax and Zooble's Instagram accounts are real!

Also, what the hell, Pomni? Why are you tagging this?

Abby Brooks would undoubtedly laugh at Michael Kovach saying "Nega" in real life.

I think the saddest thing about this whole ordeal is that I've read a whole lot of ideas and theories on the last episode that were way better concepts than what they actually ended up doing:
  1. Timeskip: A new human enters the circus years later and they explore the aftermath of what happened after everyone figured out how to conjure. Each character has erected their own little world. Because Caine no longer exists, the new person never lost their memories and is able to inform the rest of the circus members about what the circus actually is -> Continue the concept from there.
  2. Jax becomes the villain: Jax realizes his true power of conjuring due to having embraced the "archetype" lifestyle for years. He truly turns everyone into his playthings, and they need to work together to figure out how to stop him. Pomni somehow manages to conjure something to enter his mind, and discover his real trauma. Jax then abstracts, and they need to bring back Caine in order to subdue him. This backup of Caine is from before the blue AI was absorbed. You can do most of what the actual episode did, but with actual stakes throughout the episode.
  3. Abstraction Investigation: The cast, now having full access to the circus, can explore and discover its true purpose, and figure out what abstractions really are -- a result of too much Caine mindfuckery, rather than just emotional distress. They learn how the circus is even still active, and then they realize that they are at risk of having the entire system shut down without Caine -- so they need to restore a backup, but Jax would rather be dead than bring back the previous state of affairs, so he opposes this plan.
Like, these are far from perfect, but they would at least be more interesting and engaging than just having most of the episode be a therapy session for a guy who's ALREADY DEAD BY THE TIME IT TAKES PLACE.

The best part is that the Looney Tunes Jax even breaks the fourth wall and directly addresses the fact that the episode is just boring moping and crying. Just because you point out that the thing you're in is shit doesn't make it not shit!
